The State of the Nation: Brief Stats #1: 430 BC to 350 BC
These statistics are intended to analyze and advise the leaders and people of Apolytonia. In my self-appointed role of statistician, I decided that the last turnthread (being 5 turns in length and witness little major changes) merits only a brief statistics run-down. The full stats will be posted after Sunday's turnthread. Without further ado, here are the Brief Stats, with commentary:
Population Change:
*The population of the [known] world rose over the past 80 years from 5,768,000 people to 6,710,000 people. That is a net gain of 16.3%. At that rate the population was rising by .0224 people per minute!
*Germany surpasses England to become the most populous nation (aprx. 915,000), while the American population continues to lag behind (aprx. 135,000). Germany will definitely be the first to crack the million barrier.
*The largest percentage gainer was Persia, with 30% in just 80 years!!! Russia was nearest to stasis, with only 1.7% growth.
*Notable changes: A DECLINE in the population of Babylon, the only nation to post a gross decline, suggets death due to disease, or most likely the addition of settlers and/or workers.
*Otherwise noteworthy: The citizens of Moscow, Russia, are experiencing famine. The large city could see deaths on a large scale never before seen if something is not done to feed it's people.
Significant Shifts In Apolytonia:
~The people of Apolytonia now approve of the leadership by 67%, garnering Apolytonia the highest approval rating in the world (up 4% from last term, possibly thanks to pre-war boosts in moral).
~Apolyton remains the second best city in the world.
~The military service of the average, strong Apolytonian holds at 15 years. However over the last term this has fallen to 4th among all the nationns from 2nd, suggesting that other countries are seeking to bolster their forces.

postscript: the last stats mentioned that 2-3 "lost civs" were more populous than us. based on the percentages I can now confirm that THREE civs are more populous than Apolytonia!
which suggests there is another large continent, and not only small island civs. IMO.

No, it looks okay. It's just that it's, uh... big. And scary. Well, more like intimidating I'd say.
When I loaded this thread for the first time I was going "Hey, another stats update from Reddawg. Cool!" and then I started reading, going "Hmm, interesting... *scrolling* *scrolling* GWWAAHHH!!!! *scrolling back quickly* Where did THAT came from?!".
It's great to have charts and illustrations. Just try to make them a tad smaller next time.

Sounds good.
It'd be interesting to see our ethnic makeup after the war ends. While we may not end up majority-French ( ), we'll probably have a sizable minority of Frenchies.

This is interesting. Again, we can speculate about where is that continent. If it’s big, will be probably in location 1, with variations: 2, 3 and 4. Uber Island could not to be an island, at all… Probably is, but still remain possible to be a small continent, with at least one of the lost civs in there (5).

We'll have a lot of foreigners... this would be a problem. Luckily however we have a strong culture.

When we find the missing continent we can call it Graceland.

Hahahaha... that is too awesome. YES THE MISSING CONTINENT has GOT to be called Graceland now! Lol.
Yup, I'm predicting we could easily have a french ethnic group of up to 30%... it shouldn't be a problem. Our population should rise into the top 10, God willing... a fair share of them will be absorbed over time, but I suspect we will always have a French group in our population makeup, more so than the Americans!
and ok, ill try to make smaller charts next time (while still remaining legible)

Question: do you all like the stats better when they're written as if they're in a news broadcast, or as if they're a scientific document? or a combo of both like i've been doing? let me know before the next turnthread so i can have nice new stats ready.

Scientific paper. Newscast-like summaries are cool but they're less organized and informational IMHO.

Lol are you saying you plan to persecute the French? Even if they're a third of the population?!
Looks like genocide to me.

Good work!
Nice stats, Redd.
It's another indication that this game is beginning to come together organisationally.
A couple of minor points, the intermingling of old and new info is going to get really confusing :confused very quickly, you (I mean we of course) should give some thought to how we might make it simpler.
I liked the Pie Chart too Would it be possible to graph some of the trends, e.g. pop, wealth score that kind of thing(similar to the Alpha Centauri graphs I'm thinking)? It would make it easier to see how we are progressing (or regressing) over time.
Once again, keep up the excellent work.

Here's one thing you could do that would really help, at least me... if you created one seperate thread that you would edit your first post on to the newest "state of the nation" links and all of the archives, it would give one central location for people to link too where they could see the newest stats, but also easily pull up older information.
Might help if we wind up with lots of stats, and also for threads like the Directory and Foreign Ministry thread.
Still, forgetting about that, really supurb job! Totally awsome work...

Possibly I was confused. I admit nothing, however.
