AFAIK pop-ups aren't anything anything new in the standard outlook. Did you surf on other websites simultaneously in (a) different window/s?

I'm getting a buttload of popups lately.
Is it because I'm using lite-special?

Special style means you get 1 banner ad at the top and some amount of popups, i believe. But it's every 12 hours or so.

Some popups open other popups, which then go on to reproduce and multiply.

It just happened again. I tried to load a page, and got a pop-up. Paying a little more attention this time, I notice that suddenly I'm not in the format I chose in my options. In fact, when I tried to go to my control panel it said I wasn't registered! Nothing happened to my cookie.
I started getting "no answer" errors. I cut my connection and reconnected; now it finds sites but still acts as if I'm unregistered at Apolyton. Restart browser, now all is well. But why?

It also appears that the "Free shipping on the Apolyton Store!" banner triggers a pop-up. Bad enough that outside source banners do that, but no Apolyton banner should be so uncouth.

No offense, dood. It was happening almost every time that banner came up (I can't say unequivocally every time), and seldom with others.
Now there are two annoying new banners ("Hit the target," flashing "Winner") which gave me popunders the first time they came up. They have this in a grey box at the bottom: if (parseFloat(navigator.appVersion) == 0) { document.write(''); } //-->

There's two good solutions.
1. Mozilla, when the "Open unrequested windows" box is unticked.
http://www.mozilla.org
2. PopUp Killer or any other good pop-up filtering software.
http://sourceforge.net/projects/puk

With pop ups I do agree - I opened all the new RoN screenshots at a time (all in different windows) and got about 7 or 6 pop ups (pop up per each window opened). Definitely doesn't seems as 1 pop up per 12 hours.
I am using default style.
However, I didn't got any pop unders with hit the target banner.

pop-ups on screenshots and redirect pages are not related to the forum style. it's the same for everyone
sometimes the cookie is not set right. try restarting your browser

Yes, Markos, those were wide top banners. Yeah, I know of AdAware and PestPatrol; nope, system clean. I am using Netscape 4.79 because I don't like IE or the AOLified Netscape 6+.
Ras, last time I tried to download Mozilla from ZDNet the files were corrupted somehow. I've tried PUK, et al. They don't work well with N4.79—if the popup is javascript the browser locks up.

How 'bout this:
Might do that, next time I'm in an installation mood.
I just got one stranger still: No banner, just the mystery grey bar, and a popunder.

yes, it's our new banners that
1) dont show perfectly on netscape 4
there is no sollution for that currently
2) a couple of them create pop-ups/pop-unders
at the moment they are not showing up very often. we'll monitor the situation and act accordingly

Hmmmm, not too worried about N4.79 compatibility regarding the silly grey bar w/code in it. I do hate popup/unders. Twice in the last hour I got 2 popups from one page.
