I think it was in the center of the city, and some project company bought it to put large buildings on it. I can see the point of that, and understand why it would have that value.

it's the nickname I give to the CL-top scorer!
I'll tell you who it is after the season final!
but if that's not ok with you, I'll stick to someone else, let's say.......... Ronaldo.....
(Do you think that editing my post won't be needed, or will you deny me any points at the end of the season since Ronalda was wrong?)

I don't care about those typos. I will just assume that Ronalda should be Ronaldo unless there was actually a player called Ronalda. In that case I would have asked if you really wanted to predict this Ronalda as the top scorer.

Sorry but those training grounds are located on the financial centre of Madrid. Anyone would have paid that much for the terrain, so they could build three skyscrappers there.
Besides, do you have an idea how much money does Real Madrid make all over the world? Raúl, Zidane, Figo and Ronaldo can sell a few Real Madrid jerseys, you know.

Ok so Madrid have a lot of money in the bank at the moment, to pay all those wages they are going to have use that money.
When they run out of money the next time they won't have a training ground to sell. However they will still spend more money than everyone else. The government wouldn't allow Madrid (or Barcelona for that matter) to go under

Let's see: TV rights money, merchandising money, friendly matches (such as the last one in New York against Roma) money, season tickets (such as the one I own, almost €600, including CL matches) money... Real Madrid is, just as Man Utd for that matter, a money-making machine.
Oh, and all that "government support" whine... Are you sure you aren't a closet FC Barcelona fan?

No i dont support either.
My point is they ran out of money before, what will happen when it happens again.
BTW Man Utd could find themselves in some difficulty after spending £30 mil on a center half

Well, they ran out of money after 10 years of corrupted and moronic management. Remember Real Madrid paid nearly as much for Anelka three years ago as for Ronaldo now?
The club seems to be much better managed now, ever since Lorenzo Sanz went away, and Florentino Pérez is in office (don't know if that's the right word for a football club).
If things are done right, Real Madrid, Man Utd or even Barcelona can afford big transfers and still not run out of money, just because they're high-selling trade marks.

mostly because Feyenoord is a much better team than Ajax is.

I think this tactis will fail miserably
Maybe a Juventus-will-surely-win-every-single-game Strategy would work much better

For those of you who are interested, UEFA has started UEFA Fantasy Champions League. I started an Apolyton league, which you can join with this code: 69195@_66362
And I just noticed that you can also win prizes:
Quote:
|
The highest points scorer each Matchday will scoop two tickets to a UEFA Champions League match of their choice as well as hotel accommodation. An alternative option of UEFA Champions League merchandise will also be offered.
Details of the overall prize will be announced on uefa.com in the near future.
