advance the CIV series
part of the reason that we feel that civ3 was a disappointment was because it did not add much to the series. Also there was the loss videos for wonders and other things. My question is: what would you do to advance the series further in the expansion, a patch, or civ4

I would add:
More government types that are very different from each other ( some mods have many govt types, but theyre way to similar)

more civs

a future era

and return the videos

I would add things, but none of the ones you mentioned. I would much rather see improvements in gameplay than cosmetics (which are important, but there are enough in Civ3 already).

In fact, with the changes of culture, resources, diplomacy, etc I would argue that Civ3 is far from disappointing. If it wasn't, I'd be playing Civ2 again (something which I was doing right up until I got Civ3 and something that I have never gone back to since that day).
