Go towards Military Tradition ASAP. The road is via Invention and Gunpowder.

I also like the Military Tradition idea, but there are two things that stop me from pushing it too hard at this time:
1) Right now, we're in several wars. If we have to fight them without Knights, we'll be in pretty deep trouble when the AI starts riding around through our land.
2) I'm not sure we could win a race to Military Tradition -- it would be very useful, and awsome if we could win, but we should concentrate on building our Economy first and see if it's possible. Right now, we can research very few techs on our own. Should that change, I'd be happy to go for Military Tradition however.
The biggest issue, however, is a question of the course of our nation. If we plan to continue to dominate the world through warfare, then we'll need Mliitary Tradition. If, however, we plan to try to become a more peaceful culture in the future, then Military Tradition will either distract us from our peaceful goals by providing a powerful weapon, or hinder our other goals as we will not have the necessary research.
I think that the nation should, as a whole, make some fundamental decisions about where we want to go in the near future. Having said that, I think that those decisions should wait until after we've finished the wars we're already in -- who knows where we'll be in a few turns.

Cavalry is 6 techs away.
In the mean time their knights will beat our swordsmen and by the time we get cavalry there won't be much left of us.

Plans to make Calvary just a few turns away?
None, as far as I know.
Calvary'll be at the end of this era... even if we rush and play a lot, I can't see us getting it before another month, real time.

Calvary was never discussed as being a couple turns away. I don't even think anyone has discovered Engineering yet.
Damn, I've been a way most of the weekend. I'll give you more on that later. I have to see the new tech situation in the save.

So basically we can research cavalry now and complete Project Lain.
Apoc, I think it's time to open a new Area 25 thread like this one to see in which direction people want to go next.

You mean Chivalry don't you? Anyway, that thread is on my to do list. I am proposing a compromise plan. I really need input from other ministers on it though. Hopefully I'll have it later tonight. I posted the comprehensive tech guide already.

Thanks. I really had nothing better to do. I just wanted to do something productive while my phone line was out.

I guess trade could have been done a little better. We are researching Engineering of all things right now too. It should be Chivalry, as ordered. This is really meaningless though.
Personally, it takes a lot to make me considered happy. This is why I do so much, so I can finally look back on something and say I happy about it. That won't happen until I get a compromise done. It is like how it is now all but officially comfirmed that Firaxis is making an X-COM game next. My theory was right and all that work I did paid off.
