I am the greek guy again, i just want 2 explain the reason goverment did this. It was the fact that they couldnt control gambling machines like Reel Magic and some other gambling places using pc's for gamble.
Cause the guys owned such shops where using a switcing tricks and making those pc's look like surfing or gaming pc's
and goverment couldnt control em they desided 2 close everything that uses electricity and u can play it !!!
This inlcudes games at mobile phones, all game consoles, all coin ops, all pc games, all net games like yahoo chess etc, and ALL GAMES THAT EVEN NOT USE MONITOR OR TV BUT USE ELECTRICITY !!! EVEN IF U PLAY THEN AT YOUR OWN HOME !!!
FFS FFS FFS FFS FFS FFS FFS FFS FFS FFS FFS FFS !!!!!!

This game banning thing reeks of a hoax. I mean seriously, the concept itself is purely ridiculous. The government will just lose tax revenue when businesses close down and people will rather ware or buy their consoles and games from abroad. So I guess the possible income from the gaming industry wasn't considered enough?
Also, I would've thought we'd have seen a thread about this on Poly already, if the ban is already in effect. If this is just a motion, then I might buy this. If it is a motion, it probably won't pass.
And I'd really like to see just how this ban is enforced.

sort of
the law is mainly aimed against internet cafes that have games on computers
but, sure the law bans all gaming everywhere, with the exception of games that are not electrical or electronic
ah yes, and with the exception of existing casinos
meanwhile, the association of internet cafes is responding to the first single arrest(no jail, he had to pay a fine) of a cafe owner with complaints to the police on computers with games in public services
the next move should probably be to make a complaint about the prime minister's mobile phone!

Yeah, but what does Tom Tomorrow have to say about it?
Oh wait, he's too busy making fun of America to realize that Europeans are just as stupid sometimes.

Why not just stage a book burning? It makes the same amount of sense.

And if we snitch, does that mean you go to jail, not that we would. Where would we post and make fools of ourselves?

Just read the story. Are you sure this isn't a Greek version of "The Onion"?
It doesn't say anything about playing in your own home.

no it doesnt
the law does.
the law of course has this in as a measure against someone turning his house into a gambling club
it of course doesnt target normal gamers at their homes except from the fact that this is not stated in the law
so i'm not expecting the police to knock on my door any moment now but i'm might be illegal

The US Constitution and US Bill of Rights set up limits on the federal government. The federal government, because of these documents, could not ban a videogame.

Asher is Canadian, they don't have the capacity to bomb people. You have to make fun of their aluminum frigates or something.

Good point, but then again it was Greece that arrested those British tourists for taking pictures of airplanes - not exactly your finest moment either, eh?

This a perfect example of what happens when your inferiors get caught doing something assanine. They try to point out the faults of others rather than admit thier own stupidity.

They made a simple mistake - you should have just sent them on their way and be done with it.
But yes, you are 100% correct about the US holding people without trial. That's ridiculous.
Now, enough of this threadjack.

"oh please, mister Apolyton, dont take pictures here. please, sir, stop"

The last time I was on a US Military based they encouraged people to take pictures.
This was a while ago at the Alameda Naval Air Station though.
I've also got pictures of me standing on the decks of the USS Carl Vinson and USS Constellation, too.
