Oh boo hoo hoo for mrs. robinson!
Seriously, Cheg couldn't have COMMITTED ADULTERY (oooooooh spooky!) if the women hadn't wanted it. Women do have control of their own sexual drives, you know. I would hope everyone here on apolyton finds wives that are as equally committed to love as they are…
That's the problem that leads to adultery in my opinion, poor matchmaking in the first place.

If you open up a thesaurus you will also note that rationalize means to reason speciously.

Sure...but I generally don't look at a thesaurus when defining a term. Most people use it for synonyms and antonyms.
In any case, it doesn't appear as though it is a current practice and that you do regret it, so that's good enough for me.
I just don't think that politics and humanism mesh very well, and in my book, disruption of another person's relationship, however tenuous, is bad juju.

Isn't that a line from a Monty Python movie? Something about someone being turned into a newt?

I'm not saying the woman wasn't wrong as well, DM. But she's not here to chastise.
Personally, I don't really believe that is very common for humans to mate for life. I don't think it is in our nature. And familiarity breeds contempt. And I don't see it as a "sacred institution" issue. Just that it is kind of unfair to Party #3 and, knowing that, the best option is to let her get it done somewhere else.
Hell, I've had several opportunities to pursue extra-relationship affairs, and have with unmarried women, but I felt like a grade A shitbag.

point taken....about the woman
i could never bring myself to cheat..the thought makes my stomach roll with revolt..just in that you betray someone who depends on you and trusts you...no matter if i was only dating them or married

Actually, it's I'm not "as wrong" as the married women were. I wasn't betraying anyone. I broke no commitments. I never lied to anyone. If you catch your SO cheating on you with someone, the person you should be pissed at is your SO.

Well, it certainly would be an eye opener as to your level of involvement.
I can't say that any cheating I've done (and it was furtive and minimal on maybe two or three occasions) with someone else's SO was all that spontaneous. It was pretty obvious these women were just looking for a reason to get out and hooking up with someone else was the catalyst they wanted.
There are different types of cheaters though...serial and exit.
I've been with both...and I kicked myself afterwards...though the one who was basically a nymph and wanted some action before getting more serious with her SO was a pretty thrilling experience, to be honest.
But I STILL felt like crap and would not have done it had I not been totally faced and thought it through.

I don't think you are applying the principles of communism right, Che.

Basically you are looking at it wrong. It not an issue of ownership of the body, rather it is an issue of relationships.
While it is true that in the past (And currently) man has bought women (and sometimes have even called it marriage), but that is not what the male/female relationship is all about.
You are using communism to excuse your relationship actions.

hmm... i'm younger than 30, so is my stable gf of quite a few years. neither of us have felt the need to cheat on each other-- but, as we've told each other honestly, there have been times every now and then when there's been a brief infatuation/crush on someone else.
and at that point, it's so far always been a judgement call, as in, "who do i actually like more?"... and so, neither of us has cheated, and we're both quite happy.
to each his own~
but if anyone in a committed relationship cheats, she/he no longer deserves it.
