Firaxis, will more diplomatic options be added?
Reading through all the previews, I was distressed not to see any mention of adding more options to diplomacy. It is the one thing I really wanted for the expansion:
1) Ability to trade units.
2) Ability to ask Civ X to make peace with Civ Y.
3) Ability to ask Civ X to declare war on Civ Y.
Will these be added in at all, either in a patch or expansion?
Thanks.

Well 3 is in there now (if you are also willing )
I seriously doubt that these will be in the expansion (Firaxis probably would have advertised them by now), but who knows about a future patch to the expansion or later expansion.

I was surprised you couldn't trade units in Civ III, and I'll be really disappointed if you can't do it in the XP. I wonder why they didn't do it, since they have the framework for Workers already there.

Because there were too many exploits in it. From what Ive read, the computer players were falling for to many tricks.

How about improving the existing diplomacy? Like unilateral RoP.
Meaning that you can go anywhere trough the land of a specific Civ but they cant just wander trough yours.
Like something that can be used as surrender condition. I feel silly when I offer RoP over my lands to some Civ as part of the surrender conditions. :-/
And the fixing of trading cities and such with the AI because I'd like to get at least something in exchange for the cities. Like, for example, the AI could value a city as 20 gold per citizen + the gold retrievable from selling each building in it.
Or something like, say, I am allied to CivA which lost a city from Civ B, then i take said city. Civ A should be willing to value that city about equal to 30 or 40 gold for every national of theirs that populates that city. So I can like give it back to them like a good person that I am and get something in reward better than just the slaves for razing the city.

Are new diplomacy, government, and tech options needed? Yes.
Will they include any of the above? Doesn't look that way.

There are countless tricks that AI's will fall into. Why doesn't Faraxis remove all diplomatic features from the game?

That should definently be in, at least for multiplayer. Firaxis probably would have had difficulty getting the AI to use it properly - and knowing when to use it.

Hrm I like the idea of a universal RoP. It doesn't make sense for me to allow someone to wander through my territory (and get in my way) if they've surrendered to me. I have a feeling everyone's right when they say we won't get any new diplomacy options in PtW, but the next XP should focus primarily on fixing the UN and diplomacy.

Basically like when they surrender completely in SMAC. I like it.
