upgrading units
How do you upgrade an individual unit? The manual does not say. Also why won't it allow me to upgrade using shift-u? I have 3 pikeman in cities with saltpeter and I have discovered gunpowder. I have no problem creating musketmen in the production queue, but when I try upgrading I get the message "there are note pikemen that can be upgraded at this time". This happens with any unit I try and upgrade. Thanks

More accurately, land units must be in a city with a barracks, sea units must be in a city with a harbor, and if you happen to have fighters you want to upgrade to jet fighters (those being the only upgradable air units) they have to be in a city with an airport.

make a chariot in a city with a barracks active and press shift-u.
