Ministry Of Imperial Expansion
Welcome to the Ministry of Imperial Expansion. This is a place where I will put the current orders and a link to a map if need be. The space below this post is where the orders will be, they will be in other threads too. If you have any queries or suggestions, post, the orders are not set in stone !!
The Current orders are for the 130 BC:
Settle the site mentioned in the image as site 1.
Follow up an attack of Sidon with a settler and settle at the following site:
Build a settler in the new city. Continue to explore with the galley, I return control of the galley outside Apolyton to the SMC.

End its turn - I suppose you mean. In other words: skip the rest of its turn.

Galley 2 travels to tile B. The settler and the other unit (if any) onboard galley 2 moves to galley 1.

The "any" unit is the spearman, right?

Hey Will
Do you agree with the plan to build a settler in Port Rouge and then build a city between Chartes and Rheims so that our cities can be culturally linked?

Glad to see this thread here. It will be needed for discussion on where the Settler sent to Uber Isle will build a city, when I play the turns in an hour or so.

BigFurryMonster:
1. Yes that is what I mean.
2. Yes the other unit will be a spearman from Apolyton.
OPD:
Actually, I would like to see a few more cities on Uber Isle, however, I will look at the area and see what needs to be done, I just have to look at the save.
notyoueither:
Very suprisingly, it is a large, fertile island!

New Sidon
Ghengis Farb posted this screen shot in another thread and I thought is should be dicussed here.
http://apolyton.net/forums/attachmen...postid=1267621
Not sure how I am suposed to do this but I thought you all might like to see this. Looks like a great city site to me. Outside of Uberisland, I think it should be a hight priority after we destroy Old Sidon.

It looks a great site, but how long is it until we destroy the old Sidon?
Actually OPD, I don't think (unless I am overruled by the mob!) that there should be a city site to link in the old france, since, if the AI build there we can get it later, and it would make that area quite crowded for any late game population growth.
Hopefully we can get another settler over to Uber Isle (It would be far less risky to build a settler in the new city, so what do people think?). In the medium term I hope to see a self-suficient Uber Isle.

Right now I'd say I'm leaning towards building new settlers on the island. We made it across this time, but sacrificing galleys for more crosses could get expensive.
With a cow, gold and eventially a whale resource within it's city radius Mystery City should be able to colonize quite well. It could probably use some rushing now and then, but it won't have to worry about sending troops to the mainland cause of the galley risk. And we won't let it get to big since it doesn't have access to our luxuries until Astronomy.

IMHO Uber Isle can and should be self-sufficient. There's no reason to transport settlers from the mainland when we can use paid labor to hurry them.

The first site is perfect, we need to settle right now. About the second one... well, I agree with panag, we should explore a little more. We don't know what we can find in the other side of the island.

First site is perfect and close enough to the capitol to be productive. Second and later cities depend on what else we find.
I believe the initial strategy should be for each site to cover as much space as possible without crowding in order to get the tiles in our cultural area and prevent AI from having the ability to settle there.
We can place secondary cities in between them later.

hi ,
indeed , the first settler should settle in a way he has the three rescources , ...
the second one should explore before he does anything , ....
with some luck we find more rescources on the other side , ....
and we should send more settlers , workers and units to our great Uber Island , ....
have a nice day

The second site is a site which I think is good for the time being, this site is there so it can be updated but at the moment it is the best we can see.

Hm... interesting point. It might not be a bad idea to eventually drop some forests on one of the plain tiles (assuming that's a terraformation that we're allowed to make) once we have the right tech (am I right in saying we don't have it yet?)

Plains is what we have got, it is good that it isn't the jungle which we are used to!! The second site will probably include grassland, which is good!!

All I'm saying is lets hold off on commiting to a city 2 site until we've scouted that area a bit more.

Yeah I know that we should scout the area, it is just a planned site, I don't want people to think that i am doing nothing, especially at this time (near elections!! ).

Hey, I have an idea. Let's build a city in the middle of all those plains, we can call it "The Ghetto" and Duddha can send all the populace he wants to "cleanse" to live there.

Can I ask a simple question, why is it that evryone always goes for the Minister of Imperial expansion, and why is it that high profile people like Sir Ralph and GengisFarb, at the moment there are three people runing and there is only one person running for President and Vice president. Can someone please explain this?

The MIE position is the least time-consuming and involves minimal responsibility, while being a president or a VP involves much more responsibility and the hassle of actually having to play the horrid game.

(Besides, I have the 1.29 patch and couldn't play the game anyway, anyone else ever notice that ROPs are eternal? They NEVER expire, they only cease when one of the two parties declares war on the other.
The other position I was interested in, Ministry of Public Works, looks to be non-existent soon.)

You know you could just download the 1.29 and 1.21 patches, run the 1.29 patch (it'll uninstall) and then run the 1.21 patch? It'll make switching between the two versions quick and painless.
