For the first city, these are the first two build items
- grainery (to be purchased when possible - hopefully just before the first growth to minimize the $ amount)
- worker (as we should have a size 2 city when we start, just put 1 shield into and then purchase)
After that, it depends more on what we need. Defence, settlers, port, etc.

Wow. Awsome!
I say that we move up our building capacity on the main land and have several cities produce units and settlers for the Island -- it's risky, but we need to expand fast.
I'll leave the specific details to the experts, however.

Uber Island looks great but I don't think we should divert resourses from the war in Persia. Uber Island should colinize its self.

My post was before the idea of a war on Persia was brought to my attention as a serious issue.
Now I consider it a compromise -- we'll probably either do one or the other.
I'll probably post some of my thoughts on that issue in one of the threads shortly...

I think you should propably try to take this island as soon as possible, before the other nations get to notice and settle it. This will only lead to a future 2-front war if shared with someone else.
So i would propose giving 2 more settlers out to the isle + 2 spearmen + 2 workers. After that, maybe a harbor rush in one city + urgent road building to keep people happy.
If all that is finished, the island could be left for itself without mainland support.

I have been totally out of the loop due to just going to school, but it seems to me that i'd place a city SW and NN of the condition. Placing one city in the middle of that is a waste, unless you are looking for a producer city.

The orange ones are my first choice as well, although the others are options depending on what is found in the uncharted areas.

The biggest advantage of an expansionist player is Scouts. Its almost a pity that we couldn't have gotten one...
Otherwise, everything looks good. I just hope that we can keep this island to ourselves for the time being...

I don't know. I have always been a fan of optimizing land use (meaning every land tile in our possesion is used). I would rather have over lapping city radius than unused land.

Me toos, except I don't mind wasting "trash" tiles like plains, mountains, desert and tundra.
I don't feel fuzzy losing grassland, hills, and especially river tiles.
Aro, do you have an Uber Map posted somewhere without your graphics on it? I 'd love to have that Uber one you just used with no graphics added.
I would move the West Aro down 1 and put two Aro's on the East Coast.

Lookes really good, Aro. This doesn't depend on what is really in the interior. This way there will only be 4 spaces that will not be directly usable. Aro 4 can be moved SE if needed, but I really think that this will be the plan to work with.

Here's a map utilizing all of Uber's tiles and resources.
City B is the proposed Palace site. If tile 1 is an inland lake, could move city E se one tile.
Cities B and C are primarily space holders to prevent the AI from building on Uber.

Here's an alternate method, giving the cities more growing space. Unfortunately it does not make use of 2 tiles (1 & 2) which could be used later as small fishing villages.
Once again, City B is the proposed Palace site.
