Which Secret Project to go for first?
One of the proposed build queues involves an SP (albeit somewhere down the track a little). I guess to be prepared, we need to know which we are going for first, whether the SP forms part of the queue we decide upon now or comes later.
We currently have:
Biogenetics: - Human Genome Project - +1 Talent per base
We will have in 9-10 turns:
Centauri Ecology: The Weather Paradigm - increased terraforming by 50% and ability to build Boreholes and Condensors
Possible techs to get early on (but still some way off):
Industrial Base (one tech away): - Merchant Exchange - +1 Energy for each square at that base
Planetary Networks (two techs away): - Virtual World - Network Nodes act as Hologram Theatres (-2 Drones and +50% Psych)
Doctrine: Loyalty (three techs away): - Command Nexus - Command Centre in every base (quick unit healing, +2 Morale to ground units built here)
Options are the SPs themselves. There is a 6th option to write in for a later SP if you feel it is important.
Three day poll.

Weather Paradigm by a stretch, the saved former turns will number in hundreds. The HGP is not direly needed since as the PKs we get Talents on our own, and other SPs can be quite nicely covered with base facilities.

Certainly my feelings reflect yours here Kass.
At least as far as the HGP and WP go.

WP.
Even if we don't use all the nifty terraform options the WP allows, the faster formers will be very nice.

Why bother even polling the electorate with this one? Even the CCCP lefties couldn't possibily want anything but the WP. (And if they all start to yell for something else now, you know exactly what I'm going to yell at them.)

I fear Maniac.
For some wacko reason the idea has already been tabled to impeach me, Darkness' (of ALL people!) and Pandemoniak (I think).
The poll is easy to make, means I can rub something in the faces of any who claim I am somehow "despotic", and gives me a place to vent if I need it.
Oh, and +3 at the moment.

Archaic has a point, we probably could have written in the Constitution that the first SP should be the WP at least before MY 2xxx, and no one would've dared to protest it. I'll be genuinely surprised if there's a vote against the Paradigm.

Ah. Sorry DBTS - I was so wrapped up in making sure it met legal specifications (no bias in first post etc.) that I forgot.
'Scuse me.
So long as no-one claims this poll is invalid.

DBTS, good man, take a breath and relax. I was just speculating on the matter, not asking for an amendment to be made. I was just making a point, an example. You've done a good job and the Constitution is good as it is.
Edit: Oh, I made a mistake and thought you were raving about my little speculation. Sorry. But at least I got that base covered before you'd have a chance to mention it.

Well, since we're only at Thinker, it should be possible to get *all* the early S........wait.........no.........we won't be able to because people don't seem to understand the necessity of building bases close together to maximise the ability of crawlers to rush build...Xx;
The reason to impeach Darkness BTW is well founded, and the one for Pandemoniak has ground too. I wasn't aware of one for you though.

Could you have an option of "any SP we get the tech for, we try for"? While WP is a given, on Thinker getting them all should be a snap. Although Archaic has a point about the expansionist agenda so many here seem afflicted with making that difficult.

Normally I would be someone against building more than one SP early on for the sake of expansion, but with all those mineral bonuses around, the temptation is just too big! Let's build several SPs!

moomin- your post seems to suggest you don't care which we go for first, which is what this poll is about. Maybe you should vote for WP or HGP, since we are very close to having the tech for these right now, and thus can start on them as soon as the queue dictates.
EDIT: Just too late. Nm.

Oh, I actually think that ME could very well go first - in my own game I try to put that in a new city by any body of water, so it takes a lot of time, while I'll try for HGP, WP and VW in older, more established cities (or cities close to prod bonuses...) So if our east-going pod ends up on the land bridge between freshwater and ocean (where is should be - if only for the navy benefits) I think we might start the ME there rapidly. The others can wait a bit, because it seems to be an area with a lot of good prod that'll give them a big boost.
I still want them all

The reason for impeaching you and Pandemoniak no longer exists.
Darkness' Edge of ALL people? From that comment I assume DE is a really nice bloke. As I didn't know him at all before this demo game started I can't comment on that myself. I can just comment on the actions he has already done in this game, and one of those actions was playing turns way too early before decisions were made. Do you deny that was wrong of him? Even now he still hasn't posted the deadline for directors to turn in orders, despite the fact Pandemoniak asked for a date several times. Do you think I shouldn't have posted my rant against DE? Judging from his posts in the constitution thread even now he denies to have made mistakes and played the game too early. Therefore technically there are still several reasons to impeach Darkness' Edge (of ALL people), despite the fact you consider those reasons wacko.

Was it DE who singelhandedly decided to move that first pod up north?

Yes he did. He moved north while the poll clearly said to move east. His mistake of siting our HQ SW instead of on our starting location can be accounted to overlooking people's posts (he thought there was a majority for SW while on all threads I looked there was one for our landing spot)., but how he could overlook the results of Pandemoniak's poll I do not understand...

That was an impeachable offense indeed. Still, if he cleans up his act I think we'd all like to actually get on with the gmae now.
Much like with Clinton

Sure. If he cleans up his act there is no problem at all. Just like Pandemoniak and MWIA have cleaned up their act. I don't have any wish to impeach DE at all. I just believe I needed to speak firm words to get some results. Unfortunately most people here don't appreciate that. Zippergate... That makes me think. Should we give this incident a name as well?
