worms was pretty funny, though, the layout, and interface too was plain horrible - on top of that i had the belgian version, which sucked, because apparently the producers don't know there are dutch speaking ppl in belgium... it was french, and walloons and the french sometimes translate their games -result: horrible voiceovers which really screwed the game...
btw what's SMAC? sid meiers alpha centauri? c'mon guys civ2 ROCKS AC !!!

My post has been updated with the latest entries.
St Leo: I put your 4 points towards Duke Nukem. Let me know if you wish to split them with Serious Sam, 2 each.

Wouldn't that be a series too? Doesn't there only exist 2 Railroad Tycoon games?

Two games doesn't feel like a series. All the others had four or more games connected to them. Maybe when we get to Railroad Tycoon 4 i'll bestow that accolade

C&C has not been mentioned once??
1. C&C series
2. Age of - series (ok there are only 2 games but a third will come soon)
3. Civ-games (if this includes Colonization and SMAC)
4. Commandos series
5. Monkey Island series
The HoMM series deserves a place in there, too.

chronocrator - I didn't include HoMM in your votes. Let me know if you want to split points to include it.

2) Championship Manager
3) Starcraft
4) Caesar
5) Civilization
* by far and away the best series of game I have ever played. Ever since playing Beyond the Call of Duty I have been hooked to the series. Looking forward to Commandos 3 which comes out next year

I needed something "fun" to do. I have 2 AI programs due next week, and they are driving me insane (although 1 is working perfectly now). Sad to say, threads like this are what passes for fun for me these days.

Good choice, even though my favourite is actually the first part "Behind Enemy Lines".

I haven't played many of the games listed here so my opinion isn't really opinion of an expert, but I would place
Civ on the top, and Heroes, EU/Imperialism, Caesar, SimCity
later... And Montezuma's revenge of course!

I liked Caesar3, but I missed the "select a province" option and expanding empire views of Caesar2. It would have been nice to do the provinces in any order and at your discretian rather than the "either or" approach.
If it wasn't for that, I would have placed Caesar at #3.

Looks like Civilization is the clear winner, no surprise considering what site we are on.
Interestingly, so far the top 3 games are all turn-based strategy games.

When it comes to turn based games I still prefer Chess to Civ.
