1. Civ series
2. Railroad Tycoon 2
3. Baldur's Gate Series
4. King's Quest Series from Sierra
5. Goldeneye
Actually, you should've asked for the Top Ten because there are a couple more games that I would've liked to put on the list like Doom, Age of series..., colonization, etc.
So long...

Depends what you mean. Ultima had 1st person perspective dungeon mazes since the dawn of time, but they were crude line drawn affairs. Dungeon Master was the first to hide clues actually in the picture, expecting you to find the hidden switches by observation rather than you characters Find Traps %. Awesome game. Such a shame Dungeon Master 2 was so long in coming and pretty bad when it finally emerged.

You sure that went okay, Skanky? I don't see Pedrunn's and my votes for Wing Commander anywhere and Pedrunn's Descent also seems to be MIA. You may want to double-check your calculations on that last update...
Pedrunn,
Wow! It didn't know WC fans still existed! So all this time, there was one sitting right under my nose... Did you see the movie?
Maq,
Say whatever you want. Most people seem to hate it these days but I very much liked the older versions, when seemingly almost everyone still loved it ('98 is still my favourite). The newer versions have hardly improved much but they're still okay, and I can't be arsed with learning completely new football games... Although it's by no means perfect, FIFA's basically a good game and has been giving me countless hours of harmless fun for the past 6-7 years or so (whenever I was/am too tired to play games which actually require me to think).

I do actually own all FIFA's upto 1997 on megadrive (genesis) so i used to play them alot too and i do own 2001 for PC (free gift for fifa '02 research) '95 was probably the peak, for megadrive anyway. Some people hate it because of all the bad publicity EA got for releasing some many damn sequals, which IMO all improved (bar graphically) until after '96.

Apologies, I missed adding Wing Commander to the updated list. I was in my to-add list, I just must have missed that one.
Decent was (and still is) on the list with 4 points however.

Time to show my age a bit.
1. Wizardry
2. Jagged Alliance
3. Civilization
4. Warcraft
5. Diablo
Nobody has voted for the best old school RPG series ever until now? 8 excellant Wizardry games and not a single vote until now. I may be old but my faerie ninja with a Cane of Corpus will rule!

Maybe make that a top ten games, instead of top ten game series...Cuz I have some games that deserves to be mentioned, but those games are a part of a game series that sucked... (e.g. Battle Isle...the first game was very great, but the sequels all sucked...)

Definately true for other series as well, such as XCom.

Hrm, it looks like I haven't actually voted yet. Probably because everytime I try, I get bogged down trying to assign precedence of genres. These should all be considered equal first. I'd need a top 10 to even start to assign second-favourite games in some categories:
TBS: Master of Orion series
Empire building: Europa Universalis series
Wargame: Panzer General series
Construction: Simcity series
RPG: Fallout series

I only played WC: The Prophey so far. Wich i went until the end. But i sure wanted to play with Maverick and Maniac from the early versions specially when i saw the movie.
In the Prophecy they are just coadjuvent from the in-game movies and what movies. I played a lot of space/flight simulator and WC is one of the best but i got to adimit the story of the game was what actually made me love it. It is just increadible. The charactes do add personality to the game.
I havent played WC that much in the last year mainly because of CTP2 though. But i did had a great time all the times i have whatching the movie. The movie does makes me want to see maniac in action.

Well, Locutus press-ganged me over here (and it's not often I'll be found in OTesque forums like this... ) to help CTP, so I'd better go for:
1. Doom
2. CTP
3. Starcraft
4. Nibbles (Yeah, that's the MS-DOS QuickBasic example program - possibly the most addictive game I've ever played, after considerable modification)
5. Civ

1. Call to Power
2. Civilization
3. Shenmue
4. Final Fantasy
5. Resident Evil
6. Total Annihilation
Well, the sixth doesn't count but I had to put it there

Wow, a lot of changes.
Grumbold: Since you gave each equal weight, I gave each of them 5 points. (average of the total points available)
Keygen: I didn't include Total Annihilation, but you can include it if you want to split Resident Evil's 2 points - 1 point to each game.
FP:
Maquiladora: Votes changed accordingly.
And with that, our fastest mover has become Call to Power, moving from position 23 to position 5.

I voted for SimCity!
Ok, it's a good game, but I actually don't like it all that much (although SC4 could change that).
What was I thinking?

Skanky......?
Oh Skanky......?
Can I change my 5th place vote to Shining Force please?

Actually, it's even worse than that: in the previous update CtP had 0 points, so it went from nowhere to 5 in only a few days
Only appropriate of course: it would be rather odd if one of main games that Apolyton covers did not occur on a list such as this one at all...

(The other CtPers that posted here came on their own - I swear! )

Yeah Locutus did not post in the threads. I followed someones profile. Otherwise I would never express my oppinions. Is it cheating to start a thread on the CTP2 forum or we all actually should encourage this kind of thing?
