So Brigham Young, like the Muslim's Muhammad, was a pediphile? Why is it these relgious holymen so often turn out to be sexual deviants? Especially the polygomious ones.
If I remember correctly Muhammad's 3rd wife was like 10 years old when he "married" her. So how young did BY like his children, uh... I mean wives, to be?

Iowans need to bash states like North Dakota, South Dakota, Utah, and Montana, so that we can make our state, Iowa look so much better compared to those states.

Just because people marry at a certain age doesn't mean the marriage is immediately consumated. It was a common practice at the time to tie two families together.

I lived in Utah for about 25 years. Many of the conservative ideas are OK but they are constantly trying to immitate California. There is a constant feeling that the local Mormons see themselves as some type of moral superiors. The people are not very friendly in general (or unless there is a big push to appear friendly because of the Olympics) and living there can be tiring if you enjoy a neighborly community. Of course if you are a Mormon then there is no problem.
On the other hand I have a few good Mormon friends but most of them are what they call "Jack mormons" which means that they fell away and do not attend church very often if ever. Also one Mormon family in particuar helped me and a friend a great deal when we first moved to Utah. I have no doubt that their motives were genuine.
After all is said and done I must say that I hate Utah. There is something about that place that just is not right. I guess you would call it a self righteous spirit or something. Some of the best friends I had there were common criminals. At least I could trust them.

"As for mormons, I think it's the polygamy (sp?) thing that many people oppose. I really couldn't care less."
Thats such a freakin stereotype. Only a small cult of mormons do that. The majority of mormons are a faithful 1on1 unity.
Mormonism is getting huge out there. I went out for the olympics not to long ago. I would say each mormon couple has about 7-10 children .I shiet you not bro. They dont believe in any form of birth control. Somthing very CONSERVATIVE is rising out of the mountains of Salt-Lake city that makes even catholics look good. And its growing at an enormoues pace.

Date? I wouldn't 'date' her. She was hot, I just got with her.

I wouldn't be surprised, BYU sucks. Simple.
To touch up on what MrFun brought up....
They should make N. and S. Dakota into just "Dakota". and just have "Virginia"...none of this "West" stuff.

My visit to Utah suited me just fine...
A quick zip across the state line for a better view of Monument Valley and back to safety!
Apparently Mormonism is the 2nd richest religion in the World as all the followers have to pay 10% of their wages as tithes!
There is also a rumour that the Morons funded the first Star Wars, hence Princess Leia's heavily clothed and conservative appearance...
Hey Franky, did you know that BYU have a college on Oahu?

Having a very large familyis considered every mormon's duty by the mormon church. They are like the Catholics of 100 years ago they still feel if they can just out breed everyone else they will win the religious debates. The way the Mormon religion subjugates women and is racist towards non-white minorities is very "old fashioned" shall we say. They are the only group who I'd say is worse then the southern Baptists.

Yup...they get a lot of Samoan's that get converted to Mormonism......Damn, Mormon's polluting our island!
The thing I hate is that every part of this island, you'll find Mormon's trying to convert people.

I agree about Dakota.
But the Virginians should do well never to be reunited with West virginia. Same reason Texas should give all its holdings east of I-45 to Louisiana. But I guess it's like the Lebanon Security zone. It's crappy, but at least it makes for a buffer.

Having lived in Texas a little over a year, Texans are friendlier. Tougher? not really.
Utah has a lot more industry than you think it does.
Think on this- the University of Utah was one of the founding schools of a thing called Arpanet. Today known as the internet.

Some GREAT golf courses up in the hills.
And in general, I agree with those that have previously said, most of the mormons I know are nice. But their need to try to convert you is a bit annoying.

Remember Links386? The first golf course you get is about 20 miles from where I grew up.

Being a Texan is not like being an american. You don't get the title just by being born there. Plenty of piss ants to be found here, but they aren't really Texan. However, it is not necesary to be native to become a Texan. I would consider George Herbert Bush an honorary Texan.

One question about Texas.
Why, at barbeques, are there NEVER simply hamburgers and hot dogs?
Brisket and sausage, always.
Another.
Why do texans like mustard ONLY on their hamburgers?

Because, they're silly. Everyone knows that mustard (as in the seeds, not that slimey ****) is best used in lemon fried rice

I'm surprised no one has said this:
Polygamy is illegal in Utah. It was a condition of it becoming a state. Very few people practice it today and it is, in fact, illegal and has been since 1885 (whenever they joined the union).
I think most of the anti-Utah sentiment comes from the Mormons being devout little sheep.

I have a problem with Utah because they nearly had a war with the United States in 1857 when President Buchanan sent an expeditionary force to suppress the Mormon contigent and Brigham Young was a hop, skip, and a jump away from declaring a holy war on the USA. How dare they try to defend themselves when put under the thumb of federal control!

Technically, he wasn't practicing polygamy.
He married an underage girl, divorced her. Then did this several more times. All of these girls lived with him and acted as his wives.

Don't forget the mormons killed a lot of people. They made deals with Indians and killed women, children, and men of a emigrant party from Missouri.
