Added my 2 votes to Mongoose.
Turned, I suspect for the last time, to HenWen.

Curiously, I was given the choice between Miriam, myself and Hen. I voted for myself in a gesture of defiance and to serve as a portent of doom to the rebels. Miriam won, of course.

Final turn to Henwen.
It's been a different sort of a game. Thanks all.

Turn sent to Mongoose. As I took Hobbe's last base, I got the message that "Colonel Hobbes and her henchmen have escaped in a colony pod" !!! I had absolutely no idea do or die was off, I assumed it was for tourny games. I would have waited 5 years before I had taken Hobbe's base had I known. But if Hobbes wants to continue playing then there certainly isn't anything I can do to stop him.

LOL I just discovered this in ACT 059 as well. In that game, SMHfan has just taken the last Morgan base, but I still have to make the payments on my loan!! I can even call him on comm, though he has no bases...
This keeps on until the game decides there are no viable starting places on the map. It can make for a very long game.

2195 sent to Paul, who is down to a single pop 1 base.
What happens next? I think that as long as there is enough unclaimed land, a player cannot successfully self obliterate and end his game. I am not positve about that...I only ever played one pbem without do or die on....AHAC1. In that game, one player went through 3 reincarnations before finally being eradicated...and that was a tiny map.
And Hen, what were you thinking to take Hobbes' last base, anyway? The ONLY WAY that that action does not end the game is if do or die is off. If it is on, game terminates at the end of your turn. You knew that, or not?

2195 to Hobbes.
As far as I know the "taking a player's last base" bug only applies to games that were started as a scenario. I remember playing a game where someone took another human player's last base and it didn't end the game because it wasn't started as a scenario. But I don't know if that was also the case with this game.

Ummm. well I've been reincarnated. How embarrassing. At least I'm miles away from HenWen!!! All the AI comm frequencies have disappeared from my screens too. I suppose I don't have any option but to keep playing?
Turned to my nemesis.

I think the computer stops trying to restart you after year 100... although this could be different for MP games, and the AI is often very tempermental.

Urgh. I must have forgotten to turn off that option. But yes, I suppose the only thing to do is to keep playing. No one is restarted after 2200, so this should be the only time it happens in this game. And at least it means that you can go in and conquer the last base of another player.
If Paul obliterates his own base, he will be restarted somewhere else, AFAIK. Mongoose might want to wait a couple of years to take that base, although I suppose it is only fair that Paul should be allowed to obliterate and escape when H0bbes could do so.

Ooof, nice counterattack Mongoose, but how many missle choppers did it take to destroy my defenses? It seems that I killed 3 or 4 missle choppers and 1 drop infantry, but I lost all of my air units in that base. At least we are fighting further away from my productive bases, and closer to YOUR productive bases

A couple more than I should have lost. I erred, thinking I had no more choppers in range, and dropped the infantry for a desperation attack. Had I found the other choppers first, I would have taken the base and been able to put at least one of the chops into it.
I have not played well in the turn under way, either. Grabbed an opportunity to chop up a Believing Colony Pod..landed the chopper, THEN noticed Mim has two unguarded noodles in a base within range. Serve me right if she kills two of my units with them.
Damned stupid Lal...I dropped a Plasma garrison up by his western base...(I tried repeatedly to give him PlasmaSteel last turn, to no avail.)...he called me up and broke our pact. Looks like Hen eats his lunch and I get to deal with Gaian choppers in PK bases...lovely.
Slight delay on sending this one on as I confer with Hobbes.

Brother Lal finally realized the evils of his former allies, the facist Hive, and allied with the us after we presented him with some very persuasive arguments. Arguments as in choppers

2198 sent to H0bbes.
Paul is gone, and he never said good bye! I presume he obliterated; I did not attack his last base. I wonder if he was surprised when he didn't escape in the last colony pod.

After Tau Ceti's post, I was surprised not to get restarted. Although I doubt that I would have been able to do much against the headstart that the others would have, so it doesn't really matter.

That is surprising. Restart is supposed to work even when you obliterate yourself (I have heard tales of Morganites starting the game with a series of self-obliterations, getting another 100 ec every time), and my previous experiences have always indicated a 2200 cutoff point. One more thing for someone to check more thoroughly, then...

It may have been a case of no suitable restart location being available. H0bbes was restarted on a pitiful little island, barely large enough to supoort three decent sized bases.

2199 sent to H0bbes
I voted no on Global Trade...ties lose, you know. At any event, my vote is enough to sustain the Governor's veto.
The only thing better than an elite probe team is a dead enemy elite probe team, served up with a heaping helping of dead crusier probe.
U.N. Commerce Committee is mine, for the time being.

Damn I forgot how proceedings like this work. U.N. commerce committee has been wiped off the face of planet due to our conflict... the setbacks to the Gaian covert efforts are only temporary.
