lol!
I've played purposefully to get as much global warming as possible. I played for ages after 2100 but it was worth it to see all the AI cities starving to death
I was ready and had settlers to go to any good land left over from swampland and any spared land. I managed to wipe out everyone else after they'd been reduced in size by about 10 from what they were in modern times. I just kept using nukes which increased global warming too

STUPID AI
Just another example of how stupid the AI is. Are all those units really necessary to take that Red city to the south? (which is what happened a few turns later)

Border Protection!
Here's one for you: amassing MAs along my border with the Egyptians.
I had to compose it from several screen grabs!
If you're interested, I lost 120 of my Modern Armor in two turns, and wiped them out completely in 4 turns, getting about 5 GLs in the process.

You better get some navy going....

The most they could take out with a single nuke is 9 MAs, nothing, really. I'm producing 20-30 of them every turn, after all.
Not only is such an arrangment of armor easier to awaken, it's also less of a target than a huge column of 30-40 MAs.

Hey Mao, beggars can't be choosers!!
This just happened to me. I am the most powerful civ on Earth currently- my military is just above the Aztecs in strength, and I have all units upgraded (no swordsmen, longbows etc left). China has been in several wars and is down to 1/2 of their peak territory. Look at this (I don't have Photoshop, but my offer is the Gods-honest-truth):

What are those two last items you gave? Is your game modded?

No - I added them to the grabs in Paint just to emphasize the point that I could not get Mao to trade - for reasons I cannot for the life of me explain - for anything. I guess I was so ahead of him techwise that he was not going to go for any money; he wanted techs or nothing at all.
The three at the top are original.
Sorry, I should have said everything BUT the last two are true.

1. Do you have the money...?
2. Have you broken agreements in the past, if so the won't accept GPT deals anymore, or will will be very reluctant to do so.
Even when dealing lux, 'bit strange, because even if you don't go the 20 turn distance, he wouldn't loose anything..

He came to me after 20 turns. I guess it's a good thing - I'm watching as at least 15 Aztec infantry march toward China (or what's left of it.)

Nothing. I had been trading Wines for their Furs since the time we could trade!
I guess it's moot now - the Aztecs and Egyptians all but destroyed them, and now they have 1 city sitting on some tundra.

Improved vocabulary!
I've never seen the Millitary Advisor say this before:

I think he's saddend because my country is currently running at a deficit. His next line will probably be, "Unless we get some more gold, we cannot support more of our glorious troops."
But I do agree, he should be a bit more up-beat about it.

Maybe he just feels sad about himself, since he could not satisfy his wife the last year.
With such problems, he doesn't mind much about the empire.

I just shake my head and laugh when an advisor frowns while saying "Sir the citizens of Paris are happy" or smiles while saying "Rouen is growing slowly."
Different things make different people happy I guess...

Well, I am running some terrain mods and I'm using Elvis as my Domestic Advisor, and I've beefed-up some of the unit stats, but other than that, I'm not playing with any mods that should affect the Millitary Advisor.
I think he will say this when/if your forces are vastly superior in number to any of the AIs, or something like that. I am the only civ that currently has Modern Armor--and lots of 'em.
So, in answer to your question, I am not modding anything from the Millitary Advisor stand-point.

I do not have a screenshot at the moment, but what is also strange is when you offer a deal like this:
We give
Furs
And then you ask: What can you offer for that?
And they respond: We're not going to do that. No chance at all.
And they don't even offer one gold or something.

Kampus, often this is due to them not being able to trade at that time. For instance, they no longer have a road connecting to you or a harbor.

No it is not that. Because if it wasn't available anymore you would not be able to select it.
I have heard it explain as follows: the AI thinks offering 1 gold is not a worthy deal so he will not offer it....

I've had AIs get insulted if I ask for anything more than 1 gold for a tech. I've also had an AI gladly accept 1 gold for an industrial age tech.

Sometimes when the deal is almost closed, I just put a little more gold or something, and then they will NEVER ACCEPT such a deal. I know it has something to do with AI attittude and some rep damage, but letting the deal almost work and then send it to hell is a good way of making me get pretty P.Oed
