Are you kidding? No, its not being worked on. Allthough PTW will make it easier, somehow, to sort through rioting cities.

I'm sure now that PtW will be out shortly, I bet there are talks within Firaxis HQ and Infogreed about it. Nothing more then just a rough ideas and "wouldn't this be cool" discussions.

PTW is the Civilization III Expansion Pack, named "Play the World", because it has multiplayer.
Civ3 released in 1999? What are you talking about? Are you sure you are in the right forum?
It was released in 2001.

The way they spit out games these days, I would think somewhere in 2004.

Only because of Infogrames.
Maybe Info will worry more about letting Firaxis do a good game, than publishing a 6th game in the top 10 next year, but I doubt it.

IIRC it was announced back then, but released last year. So, at earliest in thee years from now can we see a Civ4, but it will probably take longer, as thety aren't done with Civ3 yet.

Sid himself mentioned that historically, there's a new civ every 5-6 years. So if anyone is holding their breath, they'll have to do so until 2006 at the earliest. I'm agreeing with vxma1 though, Christmas 2007.
