End game questions
In attempting to beat the terran.exe crashes( see Winxp issues thread) I found I could get conquest wins with no confusion, but ...

I couldn't get an option for a vote or whatever for the Supreme Leader, i.e. how does this happen?

Also couldn't seem to get the Asent to trans. In one game I was up to Trans Thought No 92, so how is this win "forced" ?

Can only attempt to answer this one. Possibilities:

1. Have you built the prerequisite Voice of the Planet?

2. Have you checked whether win by Ascent to T is ticked in your game rules?

As a prerequisite tech, you need Mind/Machine Interface. Then there should be an option "Elect Supreme Leader" in the options list when you call the Planetary Council. It's basically like being elected Planetary Governor.

Why MMI for diplomatic victory? It makes no logical or narrative sense....

Re: Re: End game questions
tonic: good points-questions, went back and checked and the answer to both is yes, must be some other mistake on my part.

Adalburtus: You were correct, I had not done the MMI,
Thanks.

With a paramount catch:
ANYONE can call a PG Election, even if he's not a candidate...

while the SL Election agenda says:
"Unite behind ME as SL",
so only one of the two eligible candidates can call it, and only for himself.

Also, PG elections can always be called in any game, while SL elections are a *Victory* condition, and they can be *disabled* from individual games if you tick off the checkbox in the game rules at setup.

Re the other issue ("...couldn't seem to get the Asent to trans.... how is this win "forced" "), sorry if I state the obvious...
Are you aware that the "Ascent" is *another* Special Project you have to BUILD (after you or someone else built the Voice of Planet project), and not something just "happening" to you when the conditions are met, aren't you?

It makes some sort of sense for me: The game tries to integrate SciFi ideas on communication with "ancient" ideas on transcendence and inter-human communication. (This is best visible in the Transcendence victory). So, in the light of this, the MMI vastly increases the communication capabilities of humanity, so that the necessary diplomacy for such a victory can be done. Planetary Governor simply requires that you will be elected on some vague rumours about your way to deal with things (so to speak). To be Supreme Leader you have to show everyone on planet that you are the best. If people simply can have "internet access" to your thoughts, this is easy to see. After that, you'll only need the votes.
