Has anyone else had this problem at the end of a game
This is the problem I've had : I was playing as Queen Elizabeth against the egyptains and Americans,
I was playing a cultural game and had no battles at all...I built 95% of the wonders and was doing so well, when the wonder United Nations came up and as soon as I had built it a box came up and asked me if I wanted to vote....so I said yes and voted for myself. The other two civs also voted and both of them voted for Lincon and then it come up that I was voted out and had lost the game....what a bummer as I had almost built my spaceship. The Question is should next time I decline to take a vote?? I hope someone out there can give me some advice on this one

After being trashed by one vote in the election (It was rigged ) I have never opted to have another unless I can get more than 3/4 of the civs into ROP, MPP and several trade deals, even if I have to give it away. As with elections in many places; votes can be bought.

I've had that happen to me as well, but only once, then I learned why I lost.

The UN holds voting every five turns I believe. On the turn before, give gifts(gold, resources, luxuries etc) to them and make sure they're "Gracious" towards you. Then when the voting comes up, vote for yourself and almost all the time the "odd man out" in this case, the one not on the ballot, will vote for you and you will win.

So next time, abstain from voting and hope the other Civs choose the same. Then on the turn before the vote, grease the palms of the other civs and hope for the best

I ONLY hold the vote if all civs are polite or better to me.

if enough civs look like they wont vote for me, i say no

the only time ive had a vote was in a recent game where i made a point of never going to war, and always making deals that were generous

Yep, its happened to me. I usually build it and decline elections, opting for another route to victory.

It holds a vote every eleventh turn after being built.

All you have to do is to know what the civs think about you. If you know they like you then vote, otherwise skit the vote.

Thanks so much...I will heed your advice and make sure they are all happy and just refrain from voting
