NGO : New Woodstock
Recently arrived on Planet, Mankind want to protect its native life : this NGO is made to discuss and act about ecological questions and issues. Now that we understood the very basics of Centauri Ecology, it is time for us to be prepared to work with Planet, so that we can make it a comfortable place to live in.
Please also vote for the name of this NGO.
I couldnt find the old thread where we create NGO, so I create it right now. if we dont have the five members resuired within 72 hours, Ill ask a mod to delete this thread.
WE NEED FIVE SIGN-IN IN THAT NGO, ELSE IT WILL BE UNEFFECTIVE AND DELETED.

This seems like a discussion group such as the "Network Node" among other things, and therefore the likelyness of it becoming a problem is small

Hmmm..; An evil greedy capitalist morganite pig who cares more about (+2) economy than about (-3) planet... I fear some arguments coming there....
Anyway...
First discussion in this NGO : should we improve our fungal gin with some forest bulbs and creat a fungal wodka ?
( theres not really much to discuss until now...)

Well, we can preserve the environment anyway, if we make legislation that allows conservation and industry to co-exist rather than creating conflict where none need be.

I agree, we should plant forests all over the place, so in the future, we can have a lumber industry...bringing in a lot of minerals.

We shouldn't forget about farms. Do you expect our people to eat only berries and mushrooms?
Besides, we should leave some fungus near the base, in order to make fungal gin.

Environmentalism != having fungus all over the place. We're talking about base improvements here, and SE choices.

Once the name is decided, may I suggest opening a new NGO thread and continue the discussion there?

Leave pollution to dirty collectivist filth like the Hive. We'll be running a clean, productive market economy here.

To Maniac, the new thread will be created on the 22nd, since the poll last seven days.
And this place is not to discuss politics, it is to discuss our policy about environment : shall we go for fungus, or shall we go for forests, or shall we go for Farm/Solar/Roads + a few boreholes ?
How can we define our environmental policy ?
To Kirov : We can let a little tile of fungus for some Fungal wodka (That'll be Fungowska, fungal wodka instead of Zubrowska, bull herbs vodka)

I say we get one former sometime this decade to plant a forest or two between bases, then let it grow until we are ready to go with our forestation/lumber project
so yes, i vote Forests all the way maybe some boreholes, but away from our bases...on some island and then use crawlers to ship the minerals.

I like this idea, research tends to speed up somewhat when you've got a research city with 10 supply crawlers each bringing back 6 energy per turn (boreholes produce 6 energy )
EDIT: Omitting a question that had already been answered

thats good if you're got lots of formers, but i like putting boreholes in the base radius and working them. crawling them seems so wasteful (you're wasting 6 mins) since they take so long to build.

i can just see the future debate on boreholes between the greenists and the free marketists,
anyway, we would of course need to research bio-engineering (or whatever the preq is) so we can get clean reactors. that way, we'll save the precious minerals for the military.

I would be careful in planting boreholes in the base radius. I usually plant one, sometimes two, and next are built outside the bases.
And I think that instead of boreholes we should consider energy park. But the problem is, how to do good terraforming without causing ecological disaster?
 Sometimes it's mutually exclusive.
