Look Australia is really the best country but we don't like to brag
How many of you have
Kangaroos and crocodiles?
Thousands and thousands of miles of empty sandy beaches?
An endless summer?
Are so far from any global trouble spot its all a bit of a joke?
A very high standard of living and a very low cost of living?
I rest my case

and what if you like winter? or spring and fall?
what if you like tall ragged peaks?
I gues you are closer to New Zealand...

Yes, great isn't it. A country where you can just disappear into the vast emptiness of the never never

We're close to Asia, which is better than Europe or the States for holidays.

Then you live in a place like where I live, which has four seasons - you can also live in monsoon country or just about any climate you fancy including Alpine.

We got those - several mountain ranges scattered around the country.

I will just cover my State rather than my country.
California.
We keep them in the zoo and we have the best in the world in San Diego. Do you have any Snipe or even some foxes.
I am glad to say we don't have seven of the worlds ten deadliest snakes. You may keep them.

Well a thousand for the state anyway. Not exactly empty because there are rather a lot of people here in comparison to Australia per mile of beach. And the water is cold so you do have that in your favor.

No farther than California is unless you consider Mexico a trouble spot.

Hey AH, don't forget -- you Euro-Australians did a wonderful job in nearly decimating the aborigines.

Fine, we have wild cougars. Not outside my apartments but they are in the state. I don't want them outside my apartment. They have been know to eat people.

We just pay a few people to act like that so the rest of us can ignore the tourists
Give me a Home amongst the Gum trees
I've been around the world
A couple of times, or maybe more,
I've seen the sights, I've had delights
On ev'ery foreign shore,
But when my friends all ask me
The place that I adore,
I tell them right away.
Give me a home among the gum trees,
With lots of plum trees,
A dog or two, and a kangaroo.
A clothesline out the back,
Verandah out the front
And an old rocking chair.

I almost moved to Australia once upon at time.
We then came to our senses and stayed in North America.

We have top quality kangaroos and crocodiles at a convienient distance ... the zoo.
We have thousands of miles of empty sandy beaches too!
Our summer would be regarded by some as endless.
We are further! Anyway australia is a trouble spot with it's anti-asylum-seeker policies.
Once again ... our's is better.

Oh God if I was a uni student I would love to work there - all those nubile young teenage check out chicks in their cute little uniforms
So tell me, when I roll up to the register to pay for my hair paint and piles cream and they ask "how are you?" are they genuinely interested in me or is it just corporate policy or do I now look fatherly and middle aged i.e is it my bald spot or is it just that Canberra is just one big friendly country town pretending to be a city?
God I love this city, its got the sweetest people you ever met
If its corporate policy, don't reply.

I would like to go to Australia some day. It seems like a really cool place, but I would get all dizzy from the blood rushing to my head.

And Colin Hay - who wrote most of MaW's best stuff and was the lead singer - is a Scotsman anyway. As are most of AC/DC - well, the two Youngs, anyway. Oh, and the singer's a Geordie. The lad he replaced - Bon Scott - was another Scotsman who at least had the grace to die a classic Australian death: choking on his own vomit in the front seat of a car after a monumental p*ss-up.

Oh, I so agree
I wonder why...
Our beaches are so much better than Aussie. Especially in the Coromandel.
Winston Peters should be deported to Australia, the anti-Asian *******!
