Aro,
Map is loaded in one 50 seconds, 10 seconds for small map, 12 seconds for rest of page with dial-up-modem. It is OK for me and my ISP.

Name idea for the Greek Island: Grecos, kinda of a play on the isle of Lesbos. I can eventually see Greece being run off our continent and Grecos being the only remnants of their civilization.

Another interesting map: The Empire, circa 430 AD. You will find it in the same place, http://www.arociv.com/Maps.html , as usual.

Guys, I'll wait for the next turchat or turthread to make the maps. The reason? I am, like Arnelos, member and supporter of a Party here, in Brazil. Well, not exactly like Arnelos, I'm on the left wing… And we can win, for the first time in Brazil! I’m not a complete radical, but this is a poor country, we need this change.... The fact is: we'll have four days before the elections, and I'll be very, very busy in these days... I promise all the maps just after the next turnchat (this is not a politician promise; I can assure you ).

Well, good luck then. Which party, if I may ask?
It's been a while since I did much watching of domestic politics in Brazil... Is Cardosso back on the ballot this time again... I thought I heard someone else was running for his side?

Ok, I looked up some info on the race...
Interesting.... da Silva and Gomes are both running again, apparently... I assume you're a supporter of da Silva, no?
As for Cardosso, I see he's not running and Serra is running in his place (and apparently doing very badly)...
Well, I suppose the good there is that the leftists in Brazil are more like the leftists in Chile and Argentina than, say, the leftists in Venezuala
This could be interesting, good luck.

Thanks, Arnelos!
Yes, I'm a supporter of da Silva and his party. They are a little more... how can I say... Civilized. In addition, they have the support of middle class, too. Lula (da Silva) has his larger percentage of votes inside the sectors of society with a college degree (this is surprising, in Brazil). In fact, is more like... uh... the left wing of the Socialist parties in Europe (well, without the corruption ). But it's not a good comparison.
An interesting thing to you, who is involved in politics in a professional level: The PT (“Partido dos Trabalhadores": Worker's Party; not Labour Party) has a modern concept of what is "left", it’s not a Marxist party. I’ll search for some links in English (Spanish, maybe?) about the “PT”. Let me see…it's not a populist party, like the “Peronistas” in Argentina, for instance, or the Socialist Party in Spain, It’s not a communist party too… it’s different.
Unfortunately, my English is not good enough to say more… I’m sure this could be very informative.
You know how this works: some people don’t like politics, some don’t care, and others just love it.

I am looking at the site http://www.arociv.com/Maps.html
the 430AD map is the only link working, correct?
Interesting spread - your nice and close to Berlin, how are they getting along with their neighbours? I wouldn't want Greece and Germany getting too friendly. France and US are neutralised I see. England never seems to amount to much. Are the Aztecs on the war path yet? It always amazes me how many units they can slap down. Aztecs and Persians - godz, I hate those two!

Bolverk, I tested all links, and all seem to be working. The 430 maps are the only ones updated, I'm a little short of time these days (see my posts above! The site is a little messed; I'll try to make it more organized after the elections here in Brazil.
The Aztecs are on war with America, they just took Washington in the last turnchat. About this, see
http://apolyton.net/forums/showthrea...7&pagenumber=4 .

I suggest that Opaid__n either rush build the Libary it's set to or switch to Catherdrial and rush that. (Which ever is cheaper.)
We should be putting the culture pressure on Chartres instead of Chartes putting culture pressure on our cities.

Thanks, Aro! I just got on to this forum, and am trying to catch up on this game. Of course, as soon as I saw "maps", that's the first place I look!
Thanks again! Where should I look for info about the nation?

Hadn't looked in here before, I'm afraid, but this is great stuff. Aro deserves a city named after him, I think. I'd propose it, but I ain't sure who to propose it to anymore!
And hey! When are we going to see History Guy City?

Aro,
The Economist is running a story about Brazil's election on its front page this week. Luckily, they've also put it in the free section of their website. People can check it out here:

Thanks for the link, Arnelos!
The articles are a little... uh... biased ( ), but in general give some good info about the moment.

Of course they're biased, it's the Economist But what you expect as reading material for a center-right internationalist?

Exactly... And what you expect reading comments about this coming from a center left internationalist (I used to be a trotskist, in my youth... believe it or not!)?
Anyway, is good to see the international press with so much interest in my country.

My best friend (a Filipino citizen who lives in the DC area) told me that he'd recently asked his father if he was a Maoist in the 60's... his father (a World Bank employee since the 70's) responded "we were all Maoists in the 60's"

Well, I never was a Maoist... However, they were very strong in the students movement in the 70's (Hey, I'm not too older... )
Btw, Cardoso's candidate, Jose Serra, was a radical left wing in the 60's...
