Should we restart?
If a player gets into the game and decides they don't like the starting spot. Or a player get two settlers and or some tech, do you want to restart the game to try and have everyone with one settler and no techs?
I say no, because the game is designed to compensate for bad starting spots. That's why you get extra stuff....if your in a bad spot. Life is not always fair, and it's how we deal with these situations that makes us good players and makes the game interesting.
Anyway...please vote.

Nope.
Unless people find a real good reason for it before saturday.
The "everything should be even" argument is not really good, IMHO.

Then I don't want to hear a SINGLE complaint when someone gets two setts, some tech and the like.
IMO the game does not evenly compensate people. Some folks get lousy start positions, and then get very little. Others merely have to wander a bit, and then have a prime-time spot. But they might get compensated differently.
It is a big deal who gets what, and at the end of the game, people can point to the beginning of the game and say "Well, they won because of blahblahblah at the start."
I hope that you take this into account when voting. It does not take all that long to restart until everything is even.

And it looks like against my recommendation...that we are going to allow restarts until it's even.
This will take hours..and people will still complain.
Anyway....it's a democracy game after all.

NO! part of the experience of Civ 2 is the good and bad starting positions. If you can't overcome a mediocre start then maybe you should stick to tetris

To late to vote in this poll too... but I also say no, would just result in a zillion threads of arguing and what-if theories if we allowed restarts. I'd just like to play this game and have fun, I don't care if the starting positions aren't exactly equal. There's way too many random elements in the game anyway like getting cities/settlers from huts that could unbalance the game.

I'd vote no if the poll wasn't closed...
