Not at all. In fact, I used to play them the most before turning into an agressive warmongering type (I sometimes play as them as a warmonger as well). Their traits and UUs allow for both early warmongering (even without the Militaristic trait, they can be quite powerful in the early game) and early building (especially Egypt who can build temples immediately).

Not surprised at all about Egypt and Persia... Japan should be higher, as should China. Why Rome is not better represented (as another early civ) is beyond me.
I'm intrigued that very few people have mastered France (myself included), as the AI seems to do quite well with it. Maybe it's just an aversion to being pink.

Both times I've played America I got my Golden Age building Hoover Dam, and they've been among the best timed Golden Ages in all the games I've played.
Back to the original question: I always play Random. I like playing Egyptians best, but I think I've played English the most times.

I don't know about that. I mean, I modded the French to blue in my game (as they should be), and I still have trouble with France. This is strange since they were the first civ I ever used (back when I was a peaceful builder type playing on Chieftain).

Sometimes, the Hoover Dam won't be triggering any golden age. The last time I played that far as the Americans, I didn't get my golden age until my F-15s took out some French bombers. However, by then, I was unstoppable anyway and the GA was useless.
However, I can see how a Hoover Dam induced GA is perfect timing, much like the German Panzer induced golden age.

Regarding the traits I prefer babs (culture monsters) and egyptians. But I don't like the extremely early UUs.
Best time for me to get a GA is the middle ages.
I like the samurai very much and the Japanese traits are good, too, so I voted for them.

Yes I do. The impi is a nice fast unit. The traits are also useful. But I voted Babs, because of the easy culturebuilding! And the special archer is also handy in the early stage, and they are cheap to build.

I like the Persians and try to use different civs from time to time, but I just keep coming back to the.....
French.
Weird, but fast workers and lower corruption is great, and I know a lot of people don't like 'em, but I love the Musketeers.

Why would a Hoover Dam generated GA be perfect timing? I can see where it would be impressive, but is not the game in the bank at that point? Not over, but no way the AI is going to be able to hold on.

But what if going by the normal production rates, there wasn't enough time for conquest, domination or Space Race? A late golden age is perfect for setting the timetable to victory forward quite a bit. While the AI couldn't hold on anyway, being able to crank out tanks twice as fast than normal would mean that the inevitable is hastened. It could mean the difference between a domination victory in 2010, or a Histograph victory in 2050.

Voted Iroquois because I really enjoyed a couple of games with them recently. Generally avoided expansionist before then.
Like to try different civs though.
I think a good poll would be "Civilization you avoid the most" - Mine would be England.
