Everybody here has a favorite character, for sure. For me, Lisa (it’s obvious: she plays the baritone sax, she’s a nerd…), don’t blame me…

The Mr. Burns avatar that Ninot uses is when Mr. Burns becomes like Howard Hughes and becomes so afraid of germs that he locks himself away, doesn't cut his nails, or shave or cut his hair, and so on, and wants to fly on the "spruce moose".

yeah and he wears tissue boxes on his feet that one's a classic.
My favourite is of course Moe not only because I too am just a lowly bartender but because there's something about the way that he is so bitter and hatefull that I really like.
"can I play darts Moe?"

Ahh, how I loved the episode where Homer invented that pink flaming drink and Moe sold it and had Aerosmith play at his bar.

I guess you've all seen the 'Inside The Simpsons' episode. What Ninot said reminds me of the part in that episode about the growing number of characters in the show forcing the show's budget to grow.
Btw, there's an official poster which shows all the characters ever taking a picture together and has some text about each character. Well, at least I've been told all the characters ever are in the picture, though I reckon some characters were left out (Lisa's Saxophone teacher for instance and possibly Milhouse's parents).
Btw 2, what's the comic book collector / star trek fan / internet junkie / general fat nerd guy called? I don't think they've ever mentioned his actual name.
Btw 3 (too many btw's in this post, probably because I'm too tired to write properly), here's a piece of trivia for you: what does Marge keep in her hair?

I have tried so hard to avoid reading this thread. I have given in and just have to say on thing:
Family Guy is better then Simpsons.
Though I do have to say that the episode where Homer gets the lobster is one of the funniest things I have ever seen.

Since the show is still going strong I'm sure there are new characters since then.

NO WAY! Family Guy was a leftover warmed up to fill in programming gaps while The Simpsons is a prime time powerhouse. It was the only thing funny about the Tracy Ulman Show, so they finally got read of the boring stuff and just made a show about The Simpsons.

while the Family Guy IS pretty damned funny
it isn't what The Simpsons are
which is timeless.
50 years from now, hundreds of simpsons quotes will still be hillarious
50 years from now, people will be wondering who Adam West was, and why he was the mayor of that town.

Family Guy is extremely funny, but so is Simpsons. It's a different humor (Family guy is more slapstick for one thing).
I am really pissed at fox for giving it up.
Oh and just to make sure no one things this thread is off topic.
How about that uber isle eh? eeh?

Well, I did like ONE Family Guy episode. The one where Death broke his leg and was laid up at their house for a while. That was funny.

Donegeal: I must have missed that episode.
I did see the one where she pulled a jar full of savings for christmas shopping out of her hair, which the Simpsons later had to blow on a laser surgery for Bart to remove a tattoo he got at the mall (he made a 'Mom' tattoo because he thought Marge would like it. I guess she didn't).

The best Simpsons character is a tough one, while I have to say Apu or Grandpa have some of the best lines....
What about Apu charging extra for the bag of ice with Mr. Burns' Teddy Bear's head, becuase its "full of heady goodness"?
Or grandpa telling so many of his old stories, including "I wore an onion on my belt, because it was the style at the time." Or poor grandpa being forced to not say "Goodnight Mrs. Bouvier, wherever you are", by the estate of the late Jimmy Durante.
Oh the memories....
But Sideshow Bob probably is the best character, all his episodes are awesome. What about when Bob lays in the street stalking Bart and says he has the right to be there, only to find that a parade and a heard of elephants coming down the street to trample him. Or when his brother is trying to blow up the Springfield damn and Bart, Lisa and he are trapped and unable to foil his plan, Bart & Lisa can't come up with anything, and Bob says something like "sure, everytime you want to foil one of my plots you've got ideas, but now". Then there's the Cape Fear episode (of course Homer does a good one in that when their trying to get him to respond to the name Mr. Thompson), and "Who wants to ride through the cactus patch?"
ok, sorry....I better stop now.

Sideshow Bob getting trampled by a parade and elephants and the Mr. Thompson joke and "Who wants to ride through the catcus path?" were all in the same episode, I believe.
Around the beginning Sideshow Bob was writing letters to Bart in blood after he pricked his finger, and when he was done he started writing an entry on his diary, also with blood. He eventually passed out and the criminal guy (the regular criminal character who keeps robbing the Quicky Mart) who was staying at the same cell as Sideshow Bob saw this and said "dude, get a pencil."
And in order not to make this an OT thread: we, um... need to build courthouses! Yeah...

Agreed.
A courthouse is vital to any Simpsons episode, and thus, we need more!
And, maybe we should consider renaming Uber Isle to... Garbage island? (its from SOME episode where Homer drives off a dock onto a garbage hauler.....)

What was the name of the island Homer was sent to when he was Mr X? Was it simply "The Island"?

Not just the island, it was - "The Island..."
There was another time he was on an island, when he became a missionaire. You know, where he got high on licking toads and built a casino for the natives and eventually caused a volcano to erupt. The funny thing was that they didn't know how to end that episode so they just ended it with Homer about to get toasted by hot lava.
