Did we land on the moon?
What do you guys think? I think we did. Before we'd been to the moon, it was thought that the dust on the moon was about 7 or 8 feet high. When we went there it was discovered that it was only several inches thick. If we were faking it, why would we do that? (And don't say it was because our scientists figured that information out before the rest of the world did, because how could we prove it if we hadn't been there). If we faked it our guess would be proved wrong later when other countries landed there. If that happened, there'd be a lot of people very angry at the government, and I don't think any president we set off a time bomb like that. Also, what about places all over the world tracking the radio signals? How could the US cover that up? I don't think the Russians would allow the US to do that. Also, it was proved by mathematicians at the time that we could do it. If you don't believe me look it up or prove to me that we couldn't do it at that time. And if the pres new we could do it he'd make more attempts at the moon I think.
Please forgive me if I say anything inaccurate about space or astronomy. They don't have classes about either of those at my high school. I\

Hey AH... while it is indeed funny... and VERY APPROPRIATE... It has that nice little four letter word in it that normally would be censored. Either edit the post yourself, or I will... and my way will be different than yours.

I just laugh when I review the list... it's mind bending to me as well... But, I don't make the list, I only enforce it... blah.. blah... blah...

Well WE haven't been to the Moon but 12 men have been there.
It was pretty darn real looking on TV. Much more so than any fake could manage.

and don't get me started on the 1 light source thing like on the Fox tv special.
There is more than 1 light source in the sky
It's not like everything goes pitch black in the sky when the sun is on the opposite side of the earth
I shouldn't need to explain more. You can figure it out.

The only thing that really ever made me question the moon landing was how scripted the astronauts dialogue was. "The Eagle has Landed", "A small step for man, a giant leap for mankind". It all sounded like some government pundit penned the whole thing.
I think the Onion's "Holy **** it's the ****ing moon, this is ****ing crazy" would be far more realistic.

When you know you're being recorded in the history books as you're doing it, I'm pretty sure you'd show some restraint and write your speech before hand. I know I would.

The most important effect is probably ground-scatter of sunlight, followed by earthlight. Starlight is probably unimportant...

Good point, they just said so calmly though. It made me wonder even before questioning the Lunar Landings was fashionable.

When you've got a limited supply of oxygen, and doing something no man has ever done before, and in a very dangerous environment -- I don't see it as out of the ordinary for the astronauts not to run around shriking "OMIGOD OMIGOD OMIGOD"

"Holy ****, man, this is like mindblowing. We're on the goddamn moon in a goddamn spaceship!"

they are military men
The speech made sense to me. You'd have to see career military officers to get an idea how they think.

While not a disbeliever, the flag suddenly blowing in the wind was a little odd.
