City Council: Join Here
This is an organization to discuss the matter of what to build where, when, why, and how. We will look at the benefits of several options to determine what will best serve the nation. What city will benefit most from Libraries, where is the best FP location, where should we rush what, how to best supply troops to the SMC? And many other topics will be discussed.
Any thread started should be done in the following format:

Just as a side note, I think it would be helpful if we got a chart of all the cities and their buildings constructed, turns until growth, shields produced/wasted, science/cash/corruption, population happy/content/unhappy/resisting, and current build/time left. Right now I'm having some trouble with Civ3 on this computer, so it is currently on a commputer not attached to the internet, but I think this would make discussions more convenient.
(Of course, if nobady has the time for something that thorough, its quite understanable. It wil just provide more motivation for me to get the kinks worked out during this weekend.)

I started to put all that info into a spreadsheet when I was first elected as CP. I don't think it was ever downloaded.....
But with this here City Council, well, I can relook at doing it. It was rather time consuming, so any volunteers would be welcome, particularly if any of the RA's would do so for their areas. I just had it as an attached file on excel, as I have no idea on how to post such a table here and keep it usable.
Speaking of RA's and areas, this weekend I plan on posting an updated list of the provinces, along with other such info. If any body has any requests, please post.

Dear Apolytionians.
I'm writing this note from a sunny beach on the Uber Island.
It's been great to live down here these months,
and so I will in the future.
Tomorrow, I will return to my Guild duties on the mainland,
and then I will surely join the City Council... So count me in!
I strongly support the idea that Honor presented,
since the publicity of plans, drawings and statistics
would be much stronger if this council could create
visual representations...
And at last but not least, polls.
See ya!
Yours dr.Plaguerat

GodKing:
Perhaps the City Council could handle naming conventions and city-name polls?
(No offense, but I think that would
be the most demoractic solution)
Bye then...

Ok.
Which fontname should we use for the City-Name?

I am partial to Times New Roman myself...
When we compile all this together, we could put a list of city names at the top with those little jump tags like ada has in the Directory...

I may have found a source for most of the information. We will need to wait a few days, though...Reddawg looks at all the production/corruption stuff when he does his stats, and he is willing to dump that info over here for us when he makes the next set.
That will leave us to find the production/turns remaining and Size/turns remaining. But that can all be found VIA Aro's fine map.

We should set the date at the top of each post.
Do we want to use back dates? I have most of the saves (end of chat saves that is) back to 2950 bc (cannot find any older ones).
I cannot help with the pictures of the city - but if pictures is what you want, just a screen shot of each city screen should be enough.
Remember, whatever format we pick up will probably be use (if used at all) for the rest of the game. What will we do when we have 70+ cities.... that is a lot of work, particularly if we are doing two 5 turn chats every week. Admitadly, not every city will change each time, so cut and paste may work, but someone still has to look and check and make sure.

One thing I wan't to mention is this, defensively we are vulnerable, I've counted 15 cities that I'll call Border cities. Ultimately I would like 2 pike in every border city, Now let me stress this shouldn't take away knights and chariots, they get full priority, but after the war with persia we need to look toward defense(and offense, but I want to establish our lines first). After the defensive forces are stable i propose a creation of two 10knight corp. I jsut wanted to throw these numbers out now so plans can be made. The persian war will end in about 10-12 turns and the american war will start about 7 turns after that and then will be over in 1/2 turns so I would like to have some of the pike ready to defend lines by then.

Awsome idea for a thread UnOrthO.
Don't have time to surf around and read all the discussion -- just doing a quick directory update. Making a new section for City Council now...
-- adaMada
EDIT: Sorry, directory update will have to wait -- Poly's being REAL slow right now, and adding a section would take the editing of two or three posts, so I'll do other stuff and come back and do the update in an hour or so. Just FYI.

Ok. Great thread idea, Honor .
Putting it in the directory now, but Apolyton keeps cutting out on me, so who knows...
-- adaMada
EDIT: A new sub-sub section of City Planning is up in the Directory for this. I'm probably going to move City Planning to it's own section, at which point the City Council will get a real subsection .

I have actually been away for a couple of days, but I already did compile a spreadsheet for my glorious cites in Pina Colada. Unfortunatly, they are from 310AD and are a little out dated.
I'd update them this weekend, but It's not looking to good because of RL (damn job, someone tell me again why we have to work?). I will do my utmost to get the chart completed and posted/PM to Godking.
Oh.. um.. I'd like to join!

That looks excellent, now only thing to do is list the units/improvents in each city. This would be helpful when deciding what to build and where.
As Aggie pointed out we are low on defenses. We should then be prepared to build defensive units and improvements prior to any new armies. This includes delaying the American War.

That is just the thing about the American War... It will only take one turn and shouldn't need any extra production of military units.

Does someone have webspace? All that is in the Domestic advisors screen. If we could get a high res copy of that on the web to look at, it would save llot of work tring to type it out on the forums...

UnOrthO,
I've got a bit of webspace that I set up to use for Apolyton... not a lot, and it's on Geocities so I don't know if it'll handle much traffic well, but it's worth a shot...
What is it that you need posted? Could someone else send me the picture to be posted, or would I need to open up the game and get the picture after each chat?

UnOrtho, I have some space too, in my page on Yahoo Geocities. The site is a mess, I really need to fix this, but you can link directly on the images and traffic is not a problem.

It is the Domestic Advisor screen. The one with the tax sliders.
Below that is a list of cities, their size, production, corruption, treasury, science, what they are producing and how many turns. It would need to have several shots cut/pasted like Aro does on the map...
Sorry, I don't have graphics software to really do it properly.

Ah, ok. Gotcha.
I could def. host, but it sounds like Aro's got a better option then I do for that -- I don't think you can directly link to the free geocities pages I've got. I might be able to take the screenshot, but I'm no good with art stuff in general, and couldn't always promise to have it directly after the .sav went up. If no one else can do it, though, I could try for a week or two and see if I can make it on time...
Just in general (not suggesting that UnOrthO take on this task if he doesn't want to), a very nice, very free Image Editing Program that I use and love is Pixia. It can do some more complex stuff, like layers, masks, filters, etc, but can also do all the basic stuff that Paint does. I like it, anyway.
