Where to hold the next turnchat
There will be a chat tommarow at 22 GMT. I need to know where you all would like to have it? IRC or Poly's chat.

I like both. The probem with poly is that its very slow and might crash if many show up, plus anyone can be there, so another chat altgehter might also be going on. IRC has problems, but its privae, plus , while it crashes for some, it doesn't for all, while the Poly room might.

How many people generally in the public area? If less than 15 or 20, Poly should work fine from what I've seen.
The ministers may want to continue to use IRC though.
If MWiA can't make Poly, how could he make IRC?
OTOH, there are some of us who can never use IRC from where we are at that time of day.

IRC is better, IMO, much more stable.
A breakdown in the communication network could lead to a national catastrophe!

Well, I'll grant that Undernet worked pretty good, but that dalnet garbage was useless. I hate incompetent companies like dalnet that don't know what their doing.

If you've been to the Poly chat recently, there is a separate channel for Civ3 so it wouldn't be in the public area.

Well anyway. I have to go now and I won't be back on until a few minutes before the chat starts. Here is the poll results as of now:
IRC 6
Apolyton's Chat 5
Don't care 3
Because of this and because IRC is more reliable I will stay with Undernet for now. It will take place on IRC just like the last one.

BTW, I also changed my avatar to commemorate my first full turnchat and because I had the other one for over a month.

Apoc, did you really join the Apolyton Civ site in Dec of 1969? I didn't know they had Civ back then.............
I'll try to be at both (undernet and apolychat) just to see how it works.

I joined about 4 years ago. Everyone who registered later than around 3 1/2 years ago has either 69 or 70 depending on the timezone.

I wondered as most people didn't have personal computers to play Civ -4 at that time.

It is this particular date, BTW, because it is the first day that linux computers have knowledge of.

I wonder if MarG knows this poll is running yet?

Here's a novel idea. We discuss in Poly chat but give orders in IRC, so no clutter there.

I found that in Undernet, you can't switch to the server the President is on, simply beacuse you cannot determine which server that is. In Dalnet, this solved a few lag problems.
Anyone know a solution?

For me IRC (Undernet) works well.
It seems that Poly too (I haven't tryed it enough)
I have a DSL access.
Note : I always have problems to connect to DALNET.
I vote for IRC.

The speakerz for the All Mighty Banana, the gOdz, gave us this gift of poly chat. How can we tell the Banana we don't want his gift. It would be an insult! The entire idea must have come from that (b)ARF thing where they want to take down the divine right of our Leaders.
Long Live the Leader (note, not King, as Kings are not elected)!
