What was your 1st TBS you ever played?
What and (if you can remember) when was the 1st time you played a PC TBS game? for me it was colonization, and I want to say this was in the early-mid 90's like 93-94 but I'm not sure anyone know when that game came out? and why didn't they ever make a 2nd one? or did they and I never knew it?

I'm kind of new on TBS, compared with you, because my first one was Civ2. Since I played it, I become fanatic about strategy games.
CTP 1 and 2 with its new graphic system was excellent, but after I realize this is not all in a game.
SMAC with its very good wonder movies, border system and stuff make it my favorite game for a relative long time.
Now I'm here, and I think I'll stand here for awhile.

I'll say Lords of Conquest (C64), but there was probably something even older that I'm just forgetting. Maybe some old SSI war game. Maybe it was the first Reach For The Stars! (early '80s), probably. As I fire up the Way Back Machine, I'll say it was RFTS that gave me the 4x bug.

It would have to be Othello, I think, but that's probably not what you meant.
I played a game called Balance of Power, by Chris Crawford, which came out in 1986. It was pale by today's standards, but did show the way for global strategic games.

Anybody play any of the TBS games on the old BBS's ?(we're talking pre-internet here)
I don't remember the names of them, but I do recall a galactic trading game I was quite addicted to.

Are you talking about that board game that's played with black and white pieces? if you are then no that isn't what I ment as that's not a PC game (even if it was a PC version of it it's still a board game). Otherwise I've never heard of it but I think I remember that being the name of that game we had in our 4th grade class, and i don't know if I ever finished that a game.

Either Civ 1 or Heirs to the Throne, whichever came out first. (Oil Barons and Scorched Earth don't count.)

After M.U.L.E. would be Empire, which really got me interested in take-over-the-world games.

I did read it, and then I realised that the first PC TBS game I played really was a DOS version of Battle Chess.

My first TBS was Civ3.......
my second was MOO2,
Those are the only TBS games I've ever played. If I can find either SMAC, or Civ2, I'll give em a go.
My first strategy game was sim city........ many many years ago. BUt that doesnt count

Imperialism for me, just after it was released. I really liked it, probably because it was my first TBS. Later I played Civ2 and didn't liked it, then I've got Birth of Federation and liked it very much, later I've got Civ3 and also liked it very much and my fifth and last TBS up to now was CtP2 which I didn't liked. Now I am thinking about getting SMAC.
