How many play Civ 3 at work??
I'm just curious - my work computer sucks, so there is no way I would install it, and anyway I could never devote that much time.
Anyone out there do it?
If so, what are some of your "close calls" - e.g. the boss walking by, your clever excuses, etc.

My computer here is OK, the problem is the Boss.
If he see me playing at lunch time he will know why that dam project is not ready yet. So I avoid play civ3 at work.
BTW, the ALT+TAB feature of civ3 will do fine when I have courage to play at work.

Yeah, I know what you mean... In fact, pretty much the only time I spend in the forums is during work hours. (Mostly at lunch, but there are exceptions.. )
Hey, that copter game is pretty fun. Now I have another distraction! ... oh great.

I'm a pupil, so no, I don't play at work! And I haven't any time at school to play, unfortunately.
BTW, puil is what it's called when you're 16 and at school, right? I'm not quite sure if that's the term for my grade in English...

Pupil is accurate, but not in common usage here.
I think "student" is a better word, but if you still want to be more descriptive you would say "high-school student".
By the way, the word "pupil" conjures images of Socrates and Plato! Quite appropriate term here on Apolyton!

I could never play civ3 at work, my computer here sucks and my boss would eat me alive (being a woman, I would never imagine that she would be able to understand... ops, sorry, Bella. )
Now, Apolyton... well, I'm not home now...

Can't play at school for several reasons:
- The computers sucks
- It's not allowed (and the teachers are in the computer room most of the time anyway...so it's hard to hide it...)
- The mouse sucks (They only have the standard mice...I hate them...ok, they're actually below standard, they don't have a scroll bottom, they have a button, which NOBODY can press...)
- There's no sound...

It sure does. After all, school is your occupation in the absence of a paying job.

I am my own boss and I never play at work. It would be as bad as drinking at work (which is when you know you are really addicted to alcohol).
If I see an employee play at work during work hours, I would give one warning and no other.
I request that my employees leave their desks and take one hour at lunch time, so playing it at lunch is not an option for them!

Never played Civ III at work. But at my old job, coworkers and I used to play Civ II (Multiplayer Gold Edition) when things were slow. It was nice because you could play your move, and then Alt-Tab and get some work done as you were waiting for your move again.
We never got caught. Bosses sat in a different building entirely. And a quick instant message went out to all players if anybody spotted one.

DANG...! I'm a supervisor, and I let my employees play games on the computers when they're not busy. (includes lunch) Of course, they realize that If I need them for something the guy on the computer is fair game....

My work is too frantic to play anything. I don't think I've had a coffee break that wasn't a business meeting in months. But I do lurk on Apolyton at lunch for about 10 minutes every day - while I am actually eating. I figure a boss can't complain that any time has been wasted that way. It's just like the fact that if you eat ice cream standing up you don't gain as much weight.
Of course, if I auto-deleted all my personal e-mail instead of reading it and replying, I could probably afford to go for coffee at least once in a while
