Wondering what Lincoln's thinking about right now
Gazing from the balcony of his new residence in Boston’s town hall, Lincoln pondered about the sequence of events who brought him to where he was.
The ferocious assault on his former capitol of Washington was the last straw, although he had known for a long time that his days as a leader are few, somewhere in his heart he maintained the hope that there has to be something that could save him and his people. But that feeling was no more.
The screams of the brave yet hopeless defenders of Washington as they are being butchered by the unstoppable mass of charging Aztec knights echoed in his ears, and the humiliation, of being forced to flee his palace, still stung his heart.
“My people are doomed to be denied of their freedom” he thought to himself in a surge of hopelessness and self pity.
“And there is no savior in sight”.
But yet there might still be some hope left for his people, as reports of large shipments of Bananas and Banana tea-packs to the Apolytonian border cities were received from his few agents still loyal to him. He knew this could mean only one thing: The Apolytonians are about prey upon the corpse of his country and their banana loving nobles are flocking to the border, to witness their armies capturing what was left of his once glorious nation, all the while eating banana and drinking tea.
“We must hold on until they come”, he whispered to himself. The regime of the Banana priesthood seemed far better then being at the mercy of the vicious Aztec cannibals. One thought did not let him go though, regarding his final action: “Should I press the RED BUTTON?”
The fact that the “Button”, not to mention Nuclear weapons or anything that could fly for that matter was not invented yet, did not disturb him at that time.

I would think it would worry Abe that the only remaining backward monarchy in the known world was the Apolytonian forces gathering on his border to finish him off - perhaps even prefering conquest by the Aztecs (who are both "Amerindian", like the Americans in Civ3, and a Republic, like Abe).
However, representatives of the ARF are being sent forward into American territory to sooth Abe's nerves and ensure him that the days of the Apolytonian monarchy are surely numbered. As such, he should fight on valiantly against the vile Aztecs and welcome the arrival of the Apolytonians, his saviors, when we arrive. He's a hard sell, but he's starting to see the wisdom in our argument .

And what was his former counterpart doing meanwhile?
/me sat in his Old Club meeting room, one of the many rooms in his White House resort, in Del Monte. One of his servants said "Sir, remember, so many years ago, when you kicked Lincoln out of this town and civilized it?". Ninot simply replied "Lincoln? Lincoln was here?"

Meanwhile, Montezuma picks his teeth, rather un-amicably, while talking to some captured Americans, and wondering how best to cook them.
