Oh don't worry Nick, didn't take me too long. This might be of use to you though...

Mercator has made a great little utility to add fortresses to any combination of terrain, which I can send you if you like.

Unfortunately, if you recall Techuseh said he'd be gone for the weekend, and Jorrit hasn't gotten back to me. Being impatient like I am, I went and did it the old fashoned way.
Its not so bad if you use Ctrl-Shift-F8 rather than just Shift-F8. This way you can lay down like-types of combinations (Grassland, road, irrigation) over and over without having to enter the menu screen where 'fortress' gets toggled. Makes the large swaths in Russia not so nasty.

i imagine because then it would be near impossible to remove an opponents forces from a strategic hill or mountain. Imagine the death toll of any allied force trying to fight its way up italy with stackable defense in the mountains. a bloodbath would be certain

You can do whatever you want. I have just chosen to do the flatlands right now. Perhaps I will add hills, wooded hills and forest to the stackables list later.
One just has to reflect this when they are setting the 'defend at' rating for each terrain type. For any type.

I'm back, and I agree with starting over. Before we do, FMK, can you review the plan for solving the global warming problem? Has it been tested in a SP game?
I'm attaching Mercator's little program for adding fortresses. It doesn't work with XP, you have to use 98.

Yes it has, and it works
(I waited for 3 global warmings, the text poped up but nothing else happened, didn't have the energy to keep hitting end turn after that).

Majour Update, Game on!
Greetings everybody,
Been hard at work tightening up all that was discussed, and changing a few things to boot.
The Sounds remain the same, but you will need to download the new gamefiles. I will update the link at the first post in this thread.
Here are some of the changes off the top of my head:
Stackable terrains on Grasslands, Plains, Forest, Hills, Wooded Hills and Taiga. Not so for Swamps, Riverbeds, and Mountains.
Pocket BB changed.
Fighter added for Turks and Spanish.
Me262 is now Jet Fighter, and available to all.
Changed Bren Gun Infantry to Canadian Infantry.
Fixed Happiness issues.
Fixed Pollution/ Global Warming issues.
Brits and Frech have carrier knowledge. 3 and 1 currently in service respectively. Germans and Italians each have one city currently producing one (half complete). Changing production there loses the buildability unitll researching them.
As before, Ships sped up.
Okay Henrik, whenever you are ready with your turn, we can start up again. Same players, same Civs. Game 2 is gaining steam but still looking for players.

Odd, thing ran fine for me not a few hours ago at my place...

It's strange; the Civ2 game just completely disappears and then it asks to send an error report to Microsoft. I've seen this before.

Well I am not sure whats going on. I am running win98, and Henrik is on a Mac. I am home, have checked my game and it starts up fine. So not a rules problem. Delevent'ed the build.sav and saved as a new scenario file. Started that no problem too. Whats with the XP thought Techumseh?, got me intruiged.
I'm going ot DL the zip on the server to see if it got corrupted somehow upon uploading...

Mental Corruption
Well, it seems somehow between me sending the file to Henrik, and Henrik uploading it the scen file has become corrupted. I repacked a zip, and have mailed it to Henrik. I unpacked the zip I sent him before and it ran fine. I have no idea what would cause the kind of error I was getting with the corrupted files. It was they type of crash as if I was using some gfx with the wrong pallete.

Anytime mine crashes, it asks to send an error report to Microprose and it's XP. Nothing more than that.

Bug report
The city of 'Nizhny Novgorod' was actually called Gorky in 1939, and was a fairly large city.

Yes,
The Governments of Norway, Ireland and Portugal have asked the British Government to become the Protectorate of their fine countries.
Therefore, British infantry divisions have moved into Ireland, and are off the shows of Norway and Portugal ready to move in.
Britain(again) wishes peace with Germany, as we are in no mood for war, meaning we have no army lol
So peace is granted Herr Henrik

Capitan Paulov has declared his dedication to keeping Spain neutral. He greets all the nations of the world to make peace with Spain and hope our neutrality will be respected.
...and that's about it.

The Red Army has liberated Brest-Livorsk and Tallinn from the clutches of their hated capitalist-imperialst regimes.
NKVD advance parties report that the citizens of these cities display an astounding ignorance about the wonders of Communists, and many will have to be sent to eduction camps in Siberia.

It takes forever some times to upload a save to poly, and yesterday was a slow day. So I zipped.
