1.29f worth it?
i know it came out some time ago, but i'm thinking now maybe i should download the 1.29f patch. i chose not to becuase it looked like most of the changes had to do with the editor, and i just don't use it all that much. so are there any serious gameplay issues that were addressed in 1.29f that i should get? thanks

Re: 1.29f worth it?
You should always update your game with the latest patch unless theres some pressing reason not to (eg it has a virus, it removes your favorite civ, it crashes the game)

129f is much better than anything so far and I think PTW incorporates it.

The 'Fortify All' and 'Wake All' commands are worth it on their own. I could never go back to the days before those commands.
Upgrade!

The upgrade is worth it, the FORTIFY ALL command is well worth it alone....
As far as I can tell there aren't any bugs on the newest version

FYI, the 'Fortify All' and 'Wake All' are in the Right-Click menu. And having just gone through a 1.21 Macintosh game that lacks those commands, yes they are quite handy.
And of course, they are not all of the changes, and PTW will have plenty more including (gasp!) more "devious"/"smarter" BARBARIANS!

Additionally, there are ongoing tweaks to the AI that, while subtle, make a difference.
Um, maybe a silly question, but why would you NOT upgrade?

I'm not sure that the "AI tweaks" are all that subtle. I cleaned house with 1.21 but I've even been beaten on Regent with 1.29 (twice )
That said, 1.29 is much better than all previous versions.

So what your saying is i should upgrade...
okay, the fortify/wake all command does sounds very useful, i assume it works for units in a stack. but why would i not upgrade...well, there is this tiny little problem i have with my dial-up connection, mainly that it is a dial-up connection. and the preview of the upgrade didn't sound quite as important for gameplay reasons as the other upgrades. so i figured i was enjoying civ3 as it was, and it wasn't worth messing with it. but see, this is what i was looking for, actually feedback. so i'll upgrade. thanks fella

The 'Fortify All' and 'Wake All' are in the Right-Click menu. It literally does what it says: regardless of mix of unit types, all are fortified or awakened.

Is that just in the same stack?
I would think so, I wouldn't want every unit I have fortified or wakened.
I didn't even know we had a sleep command. Did they fix that in one of the patches? I just started playing again after nearly 10 months of not playing.

Yes you will have to issue the command for each stack.

yeah, they added a sleep command. at least, if by that you mean a command that wakes up a unit when an enermy comes in range, than yes, they added that
