Pre-poll discussion: City Names
Hi, I can see that city-naming got kinda out of hand.
Perhaps we need a foolproof system. Now there are
names like BFM, AGC, all kinds of silly nicks, etc.
It was a bit annoying.
Soon we will have to post an official poll concerning the naming system. Perhaps give renaming capabilities to the new council?
Take cityname powers away form ministers?
I need options for the poll, suggestions etc.
Come on, discuss!

Nah, you could be a President. (with a strapshirt perhaps)
The rest of us could change the naming convention by law...

What is the problem of citizens using a take off on their user names?
Is there a problem with notthereeither?

Ghengis mentioned in the other thread for city naming that though there is no current rule on what must be done for naming cities, that duty could fall on the Minister of Imperial Expansion, who chooses the city sites and goes about building them. Of course, if we should all agree that this would be a logical course, then a the job for that person would be to take all the ideas for city names, arrange them into a poll which the citizens can vote for, and then put that poll into effect.
what do the rest of you think?

As nickname: no.
As a cityname: yes.
Hey, you are the judge.
Can you tell me how the law states the current naming procedure? I kept trying to find it, without any success.

There is not a current procedure.
Standard practice has been to allow the elected officials to choose a name.

Well, should we involve The City Council too, since that's kind of a the senate thing. And what about the City planners?
Should we not be moving forth to an amendment ratification poll?
We have suggestions here provided by many citizens:
§1. " What must be done for naming cities, is the duty that falls mainly on the Minister of Imperial Expansion, hereafter referred to as MoIE, Who chooses the city sites and goes about building them. "
§2. "Cause this is to be the logical course, the new duty for the MoIE would be to take all the ideas for city names, arrange them into a poll which the citizens can vote for, and then put that poll into effect where neccessary. "
And finally, my own suggstion:
§3a. "Under no circumstance, are any citizens in any position,
allowed to use a their (nick)name on a cityname. "
§3b. "As for our founding fathers,
here defined as the 1st. Apolytonian government, should their (nick)names be exclued from the rule in §3a. And so forth be
distributed by the MoIE in a proper manner. "
-Ok, that because nicks are often very stupid, abbrev... or both.
And it's a tradition to use founding fathers names for citynaming.
(e.g. Tripington, Ninotogorsk, etc.)
More suggestion please...

I am sorry if my sense of destiny offends you. I still want my city name.
But by all means, tilt at this windmill Don ThePlagueRat.
