Moi, no. He just serves as a nice foil to the two corporate parties.

Orange: you have spent more time attacking fellow posters then making sense. That tends to take away from whatever valid point you may have.

I think maybe che's explaination of why he supports Nader makes the most sense. Don't be too impressed with Nader. He isn't that much different from others. It's just his angle on the game.

Wrong party, and the Reform Party has been taken over by Buchanan and his sister anyway. It's effectively dead.

Boshko,

A cross between the Greens and Libs, huh? Interesting. I voted Lib in '96 and Green in '00. So it appears that I've got a similar combo of beliefs. Tough to actually apply them, though.

I've been voting for 3rd parties as long as I've been able to vote. The Democrats and Republicans both disgust me. Barring some earthshaking change in them, I will deny them my vote.

I wish we could force a realignment of the parties. Get the progressives out of the Democrats and the reactionaries out of the Republicans, then force what's left of the Republicans and the Democrats (the majority in both parties) to merge, Whigs, Democratic-Republicans, and the Progressive Parties. Sounds good.

I actually supported Nader in the last election. Mainly because I wanted the greens to get their 5%. I think he's a bit loony though.

I agree with Che

Reactionaries from both parties + the religious wrong = God Bless America Party
Socialists + other far lefties = Workers of the US Unite party
Remaining Republicans and Democrats = Centrist Party

Where does that put the Libs, though? They would surely object to being lumped in with the fundamentalists, and they can't be in the WotUSU! party for obvious reasons.

Did you know the name Nader rhymes with traitor? That is what he is. Born a traitor... live a traitor.

Luckily only very few ultra-radical leftist twits support the crap rhetoric that comes out of this traitor's mouth.

w00t! A second Boshkoist
Basically I think that libertarianism is good but it doesn't work unless you have a socialist economy (can't have freedom without equality or the rich end up grabbing power or the poor end up grabbing bread no matter how much people like DF would prefer that they starve on the streets). But socialist economies don't work unless they're set up voluntarily (co-ops etc. etc.) and is run by workers instead of by government, so that leaves me in a strange situation.
Of course I could just not vote like most people who agree with me on most things, but it seems like a bit of a waste...

Wall street trader rhymes with traitor too. I think this is a much more apt observation…

Fez, you don't know what rhyme means then. That is not a rhyme. For words to rhyme, they must have a correspondence of terminal sounds, such as forLORN and outWORN.

DER and TOR do not correspond, so they do not rhyme.

So my point stands.

If it makes you feel any better, monolith made the same mistake, since trader and traitor aren't rhymes, either.

In this case "TOR" actually sounds like "TER", depending on the way you speak. I don't know how you speak in new york and I don't care. But I say "TOR" as if it were "TER". Your points never stand.

Except that TOR is the correct pronunciation, TER is not. The rules of rhyming do not change based on your own misuse of the English language. Ergo you are incorrect. Again. As always.

Actually, I'd have to say that Nayder and Traitor do rhyme - not perfectly, but close enough.

Depends on the accent, really. If I'm in a situation in which people pronounce traitor like trayter I'm gonna call traitor and trader a rhyme.

really, who goes around saying the word "traitohr", honestly! they sound similar enough to work and that's the point. You're being really pedantic about this, BG, which isn't to say that Fez isn't wrong as well…

If they don't rhyme "perfectly" in terms of terminal syllables, they aren't rhymes. That's the rule.

Otherwise you could say that Moth and Month rhyme, and they certainly do not.

I hate perfect rhyming, perfect metering, "perfect form" poetry bastards…
Not implying that you are, Gudolove, but I've seen to many good poems that have broken rule after rule and crappy ones that follow the definitions of what they are supposed to be. Interestingly enough, the same goes for detective mysteries as well…

This had nothing to do with poetry. Just the technical definition of rhyming.

I don't think anyone here would assert there should be a strictly technical rhyme scheme in poetry.

he's a politician, so of course he is a little...but for a politician i'd say he's damn uncorrupted.

Hmm, Imran has a point about the Centrists having control almost all the time. That's a problem. A 1 party system is worse than a 2 party system.

I don't know about that. He SEEMS that way because he has no power. But power corrupts. This is why the nominees for the two major parties are so corrupt. Give Nader some power, and he'd be just as bad.
