dirty trick
Just like many other players, i too am a real warmonger. But lately I've been using a trick, whichs works fine for me, but i'm not really proud of it!
When Iám conquering another civ, I take a few cities, ok fair enough, I do not place any units in the city but I go to the diplomatic screen and ask 2 cities and exchange them for the ones I just won. This way you get 2 new cities and the other one is easily taken in because when you sell'em there are no units in them you can do this with the same city for several times.
Okay, it is a rep-hit,l but I do not care about that, kicking his ass is all I think about
I was wondering If someone elese does this to, and an opinion about what you think of it

You even don't need to exchange cities, they eventually give one or two small cities for a peace treaty, but in your way maybe is possible get some more.
But be carefull: your reputation will be damaged a lot with that. So future deals can be more dificult to be satisfatory enough.

This was on monarch.
The trick works pretty often, the one problem is that when he has fast units he takes the city back, which will cost you money.

Now I remember, they have fixed some exploits in one of the patchs.
BTW, you still is able to sign a peace treaty for some cities, fortify the cities and declare war again on the same civ. But, like I've said, your reputation will drop.

My fav dirty trick/downright CHEAT:
Save game then Plant Spy.
If Spy is caught & killed, then Reload
Else continue with knowledge of army strength (weakness usually, of course) and spaceship progress.

Well don't overdo it with the trainer. Some guy was asking for help in the Civ III Help forum because his game was crashing. He had over 3000 units in the game and that was just his units not counting captured workers or any civ's units. I don't know what the limit is but I guess he found it.

About the only time I find myself really using it is to allow a rush build of a defensive unit in a city I've just taken, but is still in revolt. Otherwise, it's not really necessary, unless you're playing at Deity level...

My favorite dirty trick is the ole ROP rape.
especially nice when I've been building for that final killer blitzkrieg, and there are a few cities beyond the squares the MAs can reach. Just move your units next to their cities and crush them. also means multiple attacks from the MAs. cheap, but sweet

Not sure where I found it (a google search will usually turn it up), but it's a little utility that lets you:
A.) Add 10000 gold to your treasury any time you like
B.) Hurry production of anything (including wonders) with money under any government (even anarchy) and even while a city is in revolt or disorder.
C.) Research techs in one turn, even if your science slider is set as low as 10%
Obviously, using it doesn't really make the game very competitive...

I think it'll be pretty obvious if someone is cheating like that in MP - you can always see how much is in their treasury and what technologies they have from the diplomatic screen, and there won't be much doubt about it if they're rushing wonders and such...

I just don't understand what kind of satisfaction, especially on multiplayer, can cheaters possibly get ? Its not like they're better than the others ... just a little more immature and stupid thats all
Cheers

another dirty trick i do is work my ass off to get the great library, in a game with many many civs and I know them all, and then stop researching science. I get LOADS of casg used to rush build stuff until some idiot finds invention. This is a real helper.

Its a good idea if you're going to war a lot and you don't want to worry about science, only kicking ass. But even then, the biggest advantage you'll ever have in war (and wonder races) will be in being the first to get a wonder, not the third.
Unless you aim for third place
But if you're an early conqueror, then its a good strat nonetheless. However, I wouldn't even dream of using this tactic with multiplayer when it comes out. I can see all kinds of trouble.
Cheers

aahz_capone , that will not work at emp/deity as even if you get the GL, they will have Ed so fast. Even at Monarch, it wil not take long before they counterfiet it. If you know them all at those levels, it is already too late, most likely.
