Everyone always allies against me!
Basically every game I've played in last month, by 1000 AD all other AI's ally against me!

Seems to make no difference how I play... be defiant, be nice, be neutral, always ends up with most other nations signing pact against me.

This only seems to be happening in last month or so and seems to have coincided with me playing a few new world map scenarios available on other sites. Not being familiar with how game can be modified, is it possible i've had rules changed by a mod that natually makes other AI's more agressive towards me?

I'm only playing Warlord level, whereas in CIV-II I nearly always won on next 2 levels above.

Any help appreciated. If my rules have been changed, how can I check?

cheers

Huh... It can be one of several things

1) Do you keep your word? If you make a deal, do you let it go the 20 turns before canceling it or declaring war?

2)Do you trade reasonably and reagularly early enough?

3) You could be so far in head, they hate you.

4) did you edit the civ3mod.bic file with the editor?

Just some thoughts..

If they are scenarios, you will get a msg when you load that lets you know you are using non std rules. If the land is all spoken for, the AI tends to get testy. What does the advisor say? Are you weak compared to others? Post a save.

Make some deals with them, before they start making deals among each other

The Embargo feature is a very powerfull tool for this IMO.
They will be polite after it, and you are not getting to deep involved.
At same time the nations suffering the embargo will get weaker and weaker....

after that it's time to make your move

And ty to get some Mutual Protection Treaties, even if they cost some money or resources. That way, the AIs will always have to face multi-border wars and to split their armies...

Start early and go to war with a friend or two of your own. Since my conversion to the dark side I've found the best way to honour an alliance is to eradicate the enemy. This leaves no doubt as to if the is alliance over. You get allies, positive reputation and a constantly expanding empire. Rinse, repeat. Betray the last guys.
