Science, post-Monotheism - Where do we go from here?
We're currently researching Philosophy and will immediately go for Monotheism after that so we can get Mike's chapel. Discoveries are coming every 13 turns, so expect Philosophy to be done in 6-8 turns.
Other nations with techs we don't have:
Japanese (war): Pottery, Iron Working, Warrior code, Feudalism (researching)
Carthage: Iron Working, Warrior code
China: Iron Working, Pottery, Warrior code
The military advisor has requested that we move towards Gunpowder. Here's the path we'd need to take from our current position to reach it:
Construction -> Engineering -> Invention -> (Warrior Code -> Iron Working) -> Gunpowder
I agree with the military advisor that we should work towards Gunpowder in order to strengthen our defenses. If we followed this path, along the way we would gain the ability to build Leo's Workshop (Invention) which would help us to upgrade our units.
I hereby make my official recommendation that, after Monotheism, we start researching Construction and attempt to steal/trade Iron Working from another civ. Other possible tech paths we could work towards:
University -> (Medicine) -> Chemistry
University -> Economics
Astronomy -> Navigation -> Physics
Warrior Code -> Feudalism -> Chivalry

I agree that it's always great to be first to Gunpowder.
we've missed most early WoWs, but it's the next batch where we can really reap some rewards. So I just want to say at this point that Coprnicus and Adam Smith are two fine gentlemen, well worthy of our future consideration.

Mr. Adam Smith is an especially valued member of a representative government! It is so generous of him to pay for all the basic infrastructures of a thriving Republic or Democracy.
BTW, we'll want gunpowder not just for the Musketeers (which make us all feel so secure in the early game), but so that we can get to Explosives (I just love having Engineers)!

Lots of support for Adam Smith, but the vote went toward Gunpowder.
If we want Mike's, Leo's, and Adam, we'd best concentrate on camel breeding for the foreseeable future!!

In our situation, I think Leo's is the best WoW after Mike's, to spare many units building.
Adam Smith's ... if we are able to build it !

Oh, I agree that Leo's is next. Just saying that Mr. Adam Smith will be welcome when he arrives...
