Republic To-Do List
Republic is closer then ever, but there is still much work to be done. I've started this thread so that we can compile a to-do list of things that must be done before we can switch to Republic.
I will update this top thread according to people's suggestions.
We can start the discussion with this:
Republic To-Do List- Marketplace at Here It Is (currently costs 232 gold to rush) or entertainer.
- Marketplace at Gaia (currently costs 272 gold to rush) or entertainer.
- A road to New York or specialists (1 entertainer, 1 tax man).
- Boom Town goes below 3 citizens by rushing the worker (currently costs 24 gold to rush). Alternatively we can use an entertainer.
Economic Stats- Current treasury: 284 gold.
- Current income: 130 gpt.
- Expected income after Republic ~160 gpt (before marketplaces).
Conclusions
At the moment my conclusion is that we need to purchase the marketplace in Gaia this turn while also turning citizens into specialists as listed above (in Gaia too, since the marketplace will begin to affect the population only after 540 AD).
Remember: each turn that we delay Republic, we lose approximately 30 gold! We must switch ASAP, preferably this turn.
Long Live Apolytonia!

- I've looked into this for the CP orders and the best way is Specialist, Taxman to be precise. Production & Revenue will not be affected

Taxman looks best. Again, production & Revenue will not be affected.

We'll need to Rush a Temple there this turn (for 116 Lytons), just before OPD hits the Revolution Button. It will also need the taxman & Entertainer. The city will have 1 to 2 workers come from it's rankes by the time it has a road to it.

We'll need to Rush the Worker for 24 Lytons and have a taxman. It will then be working on the settler for the next Uber Island city site.

We will just NEED to rush two buildings (for 140 Lytons total) and change city production in 4 CIties with no adverse effect to our income/science rate. Godking has asked me to do the CP orders for this next turnchant and that's what I plan to have in my orders. The only amugidity that I'll have is instructions if we are not going to Republic in the timeing that I'll be figuring on. I'll be basing most of my orders on the main assumption that OPD will press the Revolution button just before this turn ends, not after.

Good points all around, except that you forgot that Gaia will grow next turn so we'll need an entertainer after all.

Changing one of the workers from the Dye to the far SW of the city to Specialist will decrease the food surplus and the city will be take two turns to grow. Also, there is now surplus food added to the food bin while we are in Anacrchy, so no growth. If we go immedeately to Republic, Gaia won't grow until 560 AD.
[Edit] Looking at it again, we'll lose 1 trade overall (-2 from changing work to specialist and +1 for taxman). This will become -2 after we go to Republic and -3 when the Taxman is changed to Entertainer in 3 turns (micromanagement, I love it ).

Don't forget HIW, it needs a temple, and then still can't grow beyond 2, unless connected, of course. Also, Togas should be told to renew the Ivory deal with Rome (ends in 560, IIRC), as it will save us lots of troubles, and lytons as well, as hard working citizens will be forced to become lazy specialists. (and you'd think a specialist makes more than some regular worker...).

HIW is part of the plan for the next turns orders. Good catch anyways. I PM'ed Togas about the Ivory, Rome is size 12 now and they should give us a good discound on the Ivory for Dyes.

I'm afraid you got it wrong about surplus food during anarchy. Surplus food will be generated during the turn of anarchy. We will however suffer from the 'standard tile penalty' effect under anarchy (all tiles producing more than 2 of the same commodity get a -1 in this commodity's output) so we'll generate 18 food instead of 21, leaving us with a surplus food of only 2 in that turn as opposed to 5 in a regular turn.
Effectively, we won't grow during anarchy but we will grow in 550 AD and experience the effects of that growth if the city is not prepared. I'd like to remind that if we rush the marketplace in 550 AD it will only begin affecting after 560 AD, meaning that the city will be in civil disorder for one turn. If the marketplace is not rushed this turn or during 540 AD we'll have no choice but to use specialists.
