Build more city's?
As we are preparing ourselves for republic it seems wise to slow our rate of expansion.

We allready have 19 city's while Chartage and Japan have 8.
We dont know about Chinese citycount but looking at their land and the 6 visible city's its highly unlikely they have more then 8.

Furthermore, we dont have any leftover trade or production specials close to home

This will mean we either build city's with high corruption and waste or build second rate city's close to home

My suggestion is we halt all new citybuilding for now but instead improve our existing city's, build connecting roads and make preparations for future city's.

Right on, atawa.

...and once we have a nice road network and sufficient improvements to make all our celebrating Size 8 cities somewhat productive, some of our settlers can Join City for even more growth while decreasing upkeep costs.

Settlers can only join city's of size 7 or less

But we can however prepare cityspots with good tradespecials, and when we hit demo build size 3 celebrating city's.

just build some cities near the cap, and it would be fine.

I agree with Minister atawa. It's going to take enough work to improve the condition of our existing cities so that they can survive us becoming a Republic. New cities will just slow us down right now.

I probably shouldn't have established Oblida, but I mistakenly thought that was the purpose of the Settlers building the road out there. I have since realized that the purpose of the road was to get Caravans to a good pickup point for transport (a really good idea that had not occurred to me before). Freeport I never would have built, but the Citizens demanded it in the poll.

As the people are currently voting to halt city building, I can't see this being too much of a problem.

Would it be possible to relocate the Palace to a more central location?

An interesting possibility. Where would you suggest, and why?

Why would we pay good $$$ to build a new palace??? That money could be buying caravans!!

This is a silly idea. Think Improvement, not repair!!
