Hi All,

I played Civ3 1 year ago,but I stopped my self due to this problem, could you gimme please a solution?

I was war inclined, but I couldn't manage to move more or less 150 units every single turn.

Too many tanks, too many planes, too many too many to manage every single turn.

After 1.29f or some mods,is there a way to group for example 10 units at least to move them?

In war I can manage to pilot them singularment but at least for moving them I find fundamental to group them.

Thanks a lot

You can't just group all of them in one stack.
What you can do is move the units of the same tipe using the stack moviment key 'j', so you are able to move all of your tanks, for example, from your stack to some point you want. But you'll need do this for all types of units in that stack: if you have 3 diferent types of units, you'll need to make 3 times the stack moviment.
In PTW will be a command to move all the units in a stack, being of same type or not.

First of all thanks for your precious answer.

Where can I find more detail about the " stack " function?

Could you gimme a manual page to read more?

Is a patch feature?

Thanks again mate!

Gunter,

The stack moviment was added some patches after the release of the game, so there's no entries at original manual.
There are some threads about that, but I think all are old ones, then I'll try a brief explain how to use it.

In your stack, wake all units, you can do this easily, right clicking and selecting this command. Select the unit you want to move, then hit 'j' key and set a destination, like you do with usual moviment.
All units of the same type in that stack will follow the same path done by the unit you have selected. If some unit in the stack have less moviment points of the unit you have selected, it will move what is possible and complete the path in the next turns, until it arrives at the destination or if you try to select it again, wich will make the unit lose the orders assigned to it.

With a bit of training you'll be used to this new command.

The J hot key is nice for large stacks. Not much need for it till at least the Industrial Age.

You can decrease the number of units you need to move by playing on a small map as well. I mention that because there are lot of people that want to warmonger on the biggest map and then complain that the game gets tedious.

Gunter, you really do not need to have, let alone move 150 units. I have had that many a few times, but I never moved them all. Even on a huge map, you can get by with moving tens of units at anyone turn and coupled with the stack move, it is not too bad, especialy if they are of the same type (MA).

Thanks again !

I'll give the " stack " option a try and I'll let you know .

Usually I was used to play not with the huge map,but with the medium-large instead.

Do you also know which is the best mod to add 2/3/4 new units? Like special Helicopters or some new one?

I see you are expert ( I was used to win hardly at level 4 and quite easily at level 3 ) ,could youi suggest best mod or new unit to add?

Thanks again
