research anomaly???
hey. here's a question for all the civ experts. The other day i was messing around, doing some experimentation, and witnessed something kinda odd regarding research rates and beaker counts.
Iwas researching Fuedalism, in a Monarchy and was producing 38 beakers per turn for a research rate of 13 turns. The following turn my beakers increased to 40 due to the addition of a library, but my research rate jumped to 15. The next turn I added another library, bumping my labs to 43, and the rate increased again to 16 turns!!!
Weirdola, man.
Anyone know anything about this? I'm guessingthere a pretty complicated equation when it come to figuring beaker counts, and I recall reading somewhere that the more civs that have researched the tech, the cheaper it is.
Anyway, food for thought for some folks....old school for others.

A number of possible explanations - the most likely is that you swapped techs, tipped techs from huts, captured/stole techs each turn - the cost for each tech increases as you get more so that would be one possiblility.
A more arcane possiblility is that you moved position on the power graph and therefore changed 'key civ' to a less advanced tribe - your tech costs are directly related to how your number of techs compare to those of another 'key civ' - if you are supreme this is the Purple civ etc ...
Does this help??

nah....wasn't any of the first possibilities. probably changed position on the power graph as I was behind in the tech race to begin with. I just thought it was interesting and wondered if there was some kind of hard coded equation that would be good to know about.
