1000ad military
I have some good and bad news...
good news our exploration is going nicely and we have a decent amount of triremes.
Bad news: if we want to use diplomats we actually need to build them!
We have 2 diplomats a none are beeing build anymore...we were supposed to use them for exploration and techstealing.
some facts:
Japanese have: Feudalism, Warrior Code, Pottery, Iron Working (4 techs)
Chinese have: Construction, Feudalism, Warrior Code, Pottery, Iron Working (5 techs)
Carths have: Feudalism, Warrior Code, Iron Working (3 techs).
when stealing a tech with a diplo this is at random--> 2 diplo's will give us nothing, best case I would say 1 tech we want.
to get our gunpowder and Leo's we need:
Construction,Engineering,Warrior Code,Iron Working,Invention and Gun Powder.
with 2 diplo's there is no way we will be able to steal the right techs(construction which we are researching now is only 8 to 10 turns away without any help of caravans...and there are 4 or was it 6 ready to be delivered instantly.)
At this moment Vigo is builing a trireme I suggest we change it to a diplomat and pick it up with the trireme already holding a diplo so we can send them on their way.(see image)
We could try to exchange the techs with eg the chinese(they have been friendliest to us up until now.)
like our situation is now I would suggest try to exchange with chinese and build more diplo's so in the future we can actually use them.
poll is over 3 days, and please refrain from voting t'ill I posted all other order options(they need images...I'll when the world maps start you can start voting)
thx for the attention
Shade

poping huts
A trireme carrying a warrior passed by 2 huts but didn't check them out. They are still close to the last one will we send them back to open this hut?or just continue our route?
or will we even return to the first hut and open both of them with the warrior and then continue our route...or just let someone-else open them?
there is also a horsemen in the south wich is close to the south hut...has it to open this hut before exploring the unknown or first explore and then pop the hut(and maybe even the second one when not done by the warrior?

last part we explored:
there are 2 triremes : one with a settler(???? maybe an order from our expansion minister,I can live with it) and one empty.
What should the empty one do: continue it's path or try to go north, there are some south-borders of islands we can see, mabe we can use them to get to the north...or do we need to pick up a unit first?(=continue route)

OK for exchange techs with Chinese, but not too many, because Chinese are our direct competitors on progress road !
As Japenese are always at war, no scruple to steal techs from them !
Carths are late in science : OK for exchange with them (before exchange with Chinese).
About other topics, no comment.

looks good. I agree with JCP that we should trade techs with the inferior civs first so we pick up the backwards techs when we know exactly what we'll be getting and trade our higher techs for more adavanced techs with the chinese.
I think we need the trieme that Vigo is building, although thats more of a judgement call of the minister's who are planning on moving caravans and diplos and settlers around.
The warrior should pop those huts.
The horse should travel the 2nd or 3rd route, I don't particularily care which as long as he's discovering more land.
I have no idea what the settler is doing out there on the trieme. I thought we had decided no more cities until we got to republic, but i might be wrong.
I can't wait to hear about the caravan bombardment of china next turn

Agree with JCP regarding trade outline.
I think building more triremes is a mistake. Don't they register as "away from home" unhappies in repub?
Change to Diplomat, which requires no support and can travel without affecting happiness.

I've avoided popping huts because we would probably get minor techs that aren't important to us right now, and that would slow our tech research rate. Or we would lose the unit to Barbs. My instructions were to steal or trade for them. I'll be glad to pop the huts.
I agree the Triremes could be a problem if they are at sea when we change to Republic. Most of them should be in port then. Changing the one at Vigo to a Diplomat is a good idea.
That Settler on the Trireme has been along for the ride since I started play. I've been hoping to transfer him to a ship heading for home, but perhaps I should deliver him to Vigo.

First off I wish to apologize to minister shade, My initial city plan included having vigo and St praaski build diplomats at the same time as malanga built the tireme, however I became ill on thurs. and have been away since.
So here are my votes. Change Vigo from a tireme to Diplo, one becouse the minister of war needs it and two becouse Vigo Is not really capable of supporting another tireme into our transition to republic.
I propose also that we build more diplo's in Barcelona and re-home one of its tiremes to Freeport. (tireme shown below, it is the one furthest south) This will free barcelona of a few support shields and enlarge the diplomatic force.
We should exchange techs so that we don't find ourselves in war with another civ, and we should pop those darn huts for anything that may be of advantage. I also vote for the tireme to head north and NOT pick up a unit, We may be into republic by the time it even gets back to that spot and the support and happiness issues are not worth it in my opinion.
