Chat Today 640 AD - Get Saves Here
Chat is starting now in Undernet.
You'd have the first save here, but I tried to post it a few minutes ago and I lost my connection. Just get the latest one Aggie made in the Orders thread.
I'll post all my saves today here though.

Nothing much happening so far. Got this turn done in 20 minutes. Hopefully the peace negotiations won't take too long.

Germany and England are building Adam Smith. I think Greece has economics too.
Time to renegotiate peace.

Results of Peace Renegotiations:
Greece: WM
Aztecs: 4L and WM
Iro: 25L, 2LPT, and WM
Germany: Economics for 340L and WM
Russia: 4L and WM
Baby: WM
Persia: 4L and WM
England: 17LPT and 14L for the Spices (Chem would cost Spices and >600).
Rome: 13L and WM
I couldn't purchase the Courhouse in Contaginion because of the Economics deal this turn. I'll do it next turn.
Still no workers purchaseable.
Two cities went into disorder at the start of 680: Cont and Tarsus. I fixed them immediately before I even made this save. That means Cont will have to wait under turn for the Courthouse rush.

Nothing much happened. Greece has Chem and we can trade them for Eco. That would still cost aroudn 650 though.

Cheers to term IV admin!!!
I will be holding a going away party for you guys on my estates tonight. All are invited.
Not MrWIA, though. We don't want him going on a week long drinking binge again, like at the start of his last term...

I just downloaded the save and I'll try to look at it later, RL issues first. MWI, could you try to schedual the next turnchat for Sunday at the earliest (later if possible), as I have to work on cleaning our computer room on Sat. and won't be able to get to stuff until after. My Dom. Partner calls this room, "The Slag Heap" and is threatining dire consequences (i.e. taking a degauser to my Civ computer Hard Drive) if it doesn't get done. Plus I need to get a bit more organized before hand.

I think enough turns were played yesterday to give you guys breathing room until at least Tuesday.

Great Term indeed
Although i only got here in the middle of it, i witnessed a wonderful virtual government in work, with great leaders leading us to great achievements!
May the banana bless the next term as well. Besides it's intervention, it has every other reason to be (at least) as successful as this one was.

I said Tuesday because I held my mid week chat on that day and since we are trying to get in two turnchats a week (one weekend, one weekday) Tuesday would keep everything on schedule.

Well, I have a very stupid question here...very stupid, the kind of question that gets Foreign Intelligence Ministers assassinated...How does one download the save from here and get it onto the saved games list of the game? I used to know this, but...ancient secrets that should not have been forgotten were lost...Anyway, when I download it, I have literally no idea what to do...I get a message asking me what I should open it with, etc. Any assistance is appreciated...
Thanks,
Very Confused (not Confucius)
Foreign Intelligence Minister

Put it in the save folder of your Civ3 directory and then select it when you load a game in Civ3.

Save it into the saves folder. The saves folder is located under the folder where you installed Civilization 3 (most likely C:\Program Files\Infogrames Interactive\Civilization III).
Don't forget to save it as a .sav file and not a .php file!

2 questions:
1) What is the difference between .sav and .php, Shiber?
2) Now, I stick 'banana of the egyptians' on Saves in the Civ3 Directory in Program Files. It is in Saved Games, on the game as well as the directory. Yet when I try to access it, I get the message that it is not valid. I have the 1.07 Version, the one which came in the game, and have not updated it. Do I need something else in the game to access it? If not, where doth my problem lie?
Thanks

you need v1.21 or 1.29, but as the AI plays a bit different for each version, you better use 1.21 which is the "DG version"

Still waiting for some kind of report.
I suppose I could invent one if need be. But as I was not there it would be lies, half truths and gross exaggerations.

History guy,
1) The forum changes the filename's extension to .php. The game only lists the files in your saves directory that end with .sav. The difference is only superficial. As to what is php, it stands for Personal Home Page, or rather a scripting language that was originally developed for personal homepages (it's quite easy to use) but has since become a major web scripting language.
2) You'll need to upgrade to version 1.21. You can open it with 1.29 as well (the patch is available at civ3.com) but some things will be different (mainly trade-related figures). You can find the 1.21 in the Apolyton Directory, I think.
I hope this helps!
