Amazon.com, Gamestop.com, and EB.com (electronic boutique) all have Oct. 29th listed as the day.

Well I'm glad it didn't come out this week. I would never have gotten these stupid lab reports done if it did...

The 29th would be fine, though.

Warpstorm, I'm not sure where to look for the version number.

I don't see it anywhere.

It's on the splash screen. Start the game. The first screen after the video (the one with the various options for starting or loading games). Look in the lower left corner.

There should be a x.xxy. Like 1.29f. What does it say?

I know. I thought it would be in the same place, but there is no number. Probably because it's not finished yet.

Why would anyone edit the splash screen. The makers just probly haven't numbered it yet.

why? Do you have it? If you do, what's your version?

I have been watching the numbers go up for a while now. I cannot say what version I am currently on. It is not my game. It is not for me to say.

I tried the leaked beta, and am incredibly worried about final version of the game.

The beta has an incredible amount of bugs in it. Crashes all the time (likes to crash in diplomatic relations)..

Hotseat is unstable, Turn-Based crashes after several turn, simultanous freezes after the first turn and well... turnless is the only stable one but is incredibly hard to keep up with... also multiplayer diplomatic relations crash too..

I was incredibly eager to try out this beta, but now I'm worried about buying the final version cause it might also be this buggy... Let's just hope to god that this doesn't turn into another piece of software for which we need to wait for months for patches that will fix the problems...

Also didn't notice a version number

This is why Beta is normally done privately

I am sure the final product will have few bugs in it and be much more stable.

Beta also has new commands for unit. One's the Sentry Command like in Civ 2 and Civ 1 (which was missing from 3). The other is this amazingly handy command called Explore. It automates the movement of the unit to run around and explore any black areas of the map (usually along the borders first).

From what I understand its getting close to the release date of PTW Final. Considering that the beta was just leaked it may be that its a recent beta and thus this may be the current stage of the game. It looks complete to me minus all the crashes and bugs. I sure hope they get them worked out before cause I already can't stand to play it.

Either way though, I'll get the PTW expansion cause 'eventually' they'll release enough patches to make the game playable

Gee, I find it amazing how people get a "leaked beta" of a product that has not even gone gold yet and they start complaining about the bugs. Yeah, right.

And it might not even be a beta, it might even be an alpha copy.

I guess you werent around these past two years when games took on a pattern of being released with bugs included...

And if you could see how complete this version is you'll realize that its not an alpha and a very complete beta...

On what grounds do you think it's a "very complete beta"? All the talk of place holder art and diplomatic crashes and so forth make it sound like a relatively early alpha, but perhaps that's just me.

In fact, I recall how software development works, a beta is supposed to have all the features intact, so if this version has place holder art and so forth, it sounds like a blatant alpha to me.

Really? Uber and few others reported place-holder art in some places.

Alright. What is place holder-art?

and if you had this version you would realize it is way to complete to be alpha. It didn't crash on me like the other guy.

If any info can be obtained from all this "bugged beta affair" it is: the beta is full of bug! Don't pirate it!

Alexnm, good point!

BTW about others post: an alpha is a very early game version, with many features disabled at all.
That seems to me (but I haven't seen it with my eyes) a mid-stage beta, with almost every features presents but some not working.

And graphic placeholder detail is almost a non-sense IMHO: PTW is an expansion, so most of graphic is the same of Civ III and already available from alpha stage up to now.

the 8 new civs and their faces were in there. profiles were in there. UUs were in there (dunno about leaders) ... come to think of it, i didn't notice any new wonders or buildings.. but then again, it kept crashin so i dunno..

well as long as its confirmed that the final version will be a major overhaul from this version then i'm relieved...
