What Is This Candelabra Business?
I keep seeing this mentioned in people's location fields but haven't the foggiest what it is about. Could I have a succinct explanation without a barrage of tedious links please?

It's a game that people are working together to develop.
But since I'm not involved, and am not an expert on the subject, I will leave it to somebody that is to explain it properly...
Velociryx... where are you

Candle'Bre: a computer game that Velociryx is designing (together with other people, of course). Need I say more?

Heh... Candelabra... one I didn't hear before.
Indeed, Candle'Bre is a game, developed by VelociGames Inc. , a company headed by Velociryx. We are just his employees , but proud to be part of it. Basically, the idea is to make a TBS game, losely based on Civ, EU, M:tG and a few others, but of course better then all of them combined
Candle'Bre is a game in a fantasy world with medieval influences, so we got knights fighting pikemen, wizards and priests. All of this is bound together with lots of story telling (Vel and the rest of the literature team will see to that), and we're starting to have some very cool artwork as well.
Currently, we're working on the alpha versions of the game, so it will take a while before the first demo will be released to the public, but we're sure that the 'poly community will like it. Most of us first heared of the game here... and we had some very good comments coming from the 'poly forum, so we're still closely connected to 'poly, even if we run separate fora on our web site for more specialised discussions.
It's a pity there isn't a general introduction available, and our web site is a bit out of date (the webmaster had various computer problems, with a disk crash in which he lost all data to top it all), but the topped background story thread in the CB forum on 'poly should give a good view on where the idea is coming from.
So far, it has been wonderful to work on the game, of course we're doing this in our free time, but it's a very interesting hobby. I think I can speak for the group when I say it has been a thrilling experience, not in the least because of all the international friends you meet.

Thanks Ras!
But... I didn't forget it, PH asked for an explanation without 'tedious' links. So it was intentionally left out

I wrote a short press release explaining the concept behind the game in September (Vel's a clever and hard-working guy, but brevity isn't one of his strong points. ).
Solver kindly arranged for it to be posted on a Latvian gaming site, but for some reason it never appeared on 'poly.
I've lost the file from my computer, but hopefully Vel still has it (or Solver, if he's reading this). We'll put it in our forum here ASAP.
Ras: Thanks for posting that link, but alva848 already linked to it in a post above. I think there's a link to our site in Vel's sig too.
jdd2007: At the moment the game looks like a spreadsheet, but work is going on now to make it look a bit more interesting. The graphics aren't our #1 priority, but we are certainly aware that if the game doesn't look good many people won't play it.
If you would like to help us then you'd be more than welcome! Visit our forums and/or PM Vel about it.
This thread has made us aware that we should start to get our PR machine rolling a bit. We haven't done enough of it so far (it's all Skanky's fault ).
Although our Public Beta is still a couple of months away (floating deadline on that one. ) we need to build up awareness of the project as the time approaches.
EDIT: I've changed my sig to include links to where you can find info on the game, both the Apolyton forum and our own.

Well, indeed Alva posted a link, but it's for the Candelabra forums, not the actual website where the information seems to be available. Oh, well, enough nitpicking for now.
Anyway, I don't see your project as a hostile enemy to Stella Polaris, so I can well post a link to your forums or site.
One good thing for you is that the amount of exposure you get is good, unlike StP (yes, now you can blame a certain lazy Community and PR Manager ). So you don't have to worry too much about the PR as things seems to be allright for Candelabra when it comes to PR issues.
Anyway, once good luck with the Candle'Brewing!
