Too much uniformity would favour one civ over another civ. To give to all civs more or less equal starting conditions the more deversity the better but I think too much diversity is boring therefore My vote goes to 8.

it doesnt seem to matter, from my experience you always end up with glaciers 2/3 the way to the equator, deserts near the poles and vast areas and entire islands of boring blank grassland terrain IMO the random maps kinda suck but what can we do...

IMO i think about 7-8ish
