Date format
Can someone point me in the right direction to change the date format for the forums? Being an americian, the day-month-year format keeps confusing me. I'm used to month-day-year format. for expamle today, 25-10-02 isn't such a problem, but a week from now will be 1-12-02 which to me looks like January 12th! I can set the local time, and the starting day of the week, but not the date format.
if this isn't possible, please let me know.
thanks in advance

DanaLea -
Your american date format is truly strange, If you don't have november at all...
[edit]: Apparently IW was faster.

Come on, girl...
Perhaps you just have to get used to the date format Poly is having. Like we all have.
And no, I don't believe you being anxious about the coming christmas. You made a mistake, and we started nitpicking. It's a common hobby at Poly. You could also get used to it too.

looks like I'll have to. been trying for a while now, but it's hardest on older threads, I keep losing track of when the posts were made!! it's hard to overcome cultural (what's the word I'm looking for here?!?)

oh the christmas thing was a joke. I just screwed up - it's a common theme with me...
And I have no problemwith the ribbing.. (nitpicking). none at all.
wanan know something ironic? becasue I spent 4 years in the military, when I'm not using numbers, i prefer the day month year format, as in 25 october 2002. it's the all number format that I can't get use to. ah well, I'll adjust or go crazy, one or the other!!

You should have continued with:
"far more prettier than males!"
then the sentence would have been perfect.
There are some females posting here. Look for FemmeAdonis, BlackWidow24, Tiamat & Boann... And I don't believe they are here for the games.
What is your excuse being in Poly?

As it turns out, worth it too.
A last estimate by Markos (the co-owner of this site) put the females at about 150, the males at about 20,000.

Well once you consider the number of DLs, deleted accounts, inactive posters, trolls, psychopaths, Finns, geeks, angst ridden teenagers and hairy Greeks/Macedonians you realise those odds aren't as good as they appear.

Welcome, DanaLea.
What's your preferred game? Civ2, Civ3, other?
Be sure to visit the strategy forums and drink in the knowledge. Post your questions and watch the "wisdom" flow.
BTW -- 20k is a gross overestimate of the actual (vs "ever-been-registered") population here. But in terms of gender ratios, it certainly is "a lot to a little."

Civ3
was given a copy of civ way back in the day... first version. bought civ2 when it came out, loved the changes. (then lost the game!) recently bought civ3. like some of the changes, but I didn't like all they took out from civ2. also, I pretty much agree with the idea that the game was shipped unfinished. just because you include the means for players to add to the game doesn't mean you shouldn't wait for it to be "finished". the editor is for mods, not so we can fix what you didn't want to / didn't have time to.
ok, off the soapbox.

This place ceases to amaze me, one poster turns out to be a female and everyone goes gaga.
Oh, wait, she posted a picture, never mind...

Well, I've campaigned for them to, if they don't give us the option of changing the date format, at least put it as, say, 25-Oct-2002. But I have yet to get a reply from them.

I think it would be nice if you could choose the date format. There are more than enough American posters to make the effort worthwhile.
As a point of information can anyone tell me if Canadian posters are also afflicted with an odd date format?

Yeah, the format of the dates can be changed on a global level, but the current format suits me fine. The US system confuses me...

Which is why I want 25-Oct-2002. It's a nice compromise that isn't confusing.
