War of Independance 1821
On the 25th of March 1821 ,after many failed attempts, the Greeks rebeled to overthrow the Ottoman yoke. In a war that lasted for 9 years and marked by many atrocities, although defeated at the field of battle, the Greeks, through the intervention of the Great Powers, gained their independance.
I have created this scenario more than two years ago, but i recently decided to "update" it. Since i lost the final version to a hard drive malufunction 3 months ago (along with other things...) i had to work on a beta version which miracusly survived in one of my old hard drives.
Perhaps it is better that way since i want to change many things. I will not post the beta version here (yet) since i don't think it is ready for the general public (If one is interested download it here www.apolyton.net/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=25605&perpage=20&pagenumber=46 )
Things i need
I) I don't know how to "take" a picture from the scenario and post it here, so please help me.
II) I have found a cool picture to have as an intro background but although i named it "title" it does not seem to work. Why? Is is too big (2,95 Megabite)? It is in JPEG format.
III) I need a good Janisaries graphic, Egyptian flag, Egyptian uniforms and an Orthodox/Mediteranean city style. I have a book on the Egyptian army of the time but i can't find it. Aid is required.

Faulty link. It is in the "Graphics Showcase" thread page 46.
IV) Is there a way to post the JPEG file here so one who has available the programs required (Photoshop for instance) can form it and make it recognizable by Civ2?

1. It needs to be in GIF format.
2. It needs to have Civ2's 256-colour palette.
A JPEG that's 2.95 megabytes in size shouldn't have been saved as a JPEG.

The Cretans decide to take the matters into their own hands.
P.S Download the sounds at the thread "Graphics showcase" page 46.

Hey, I played the scenario and I like the way it plays, quite smooth. Perhaps the alliances and diplomatic issues need sorting, as the British and Russians kept sneak attacking the Greeks. Also, the graphics can be polished in several cases, but I've seen you working on them already in the other thread.

Really ?. You liked it ?.
Have you downloaded this version here?
Yes, the alliances will be fixed in the next version. As will pirates(barbarians) and graphics. They were ok in the final version before i lost it. I posted the scenario early so as to have comments about it. The janisaries graphic has already changed.
Wait for next week.

Hey, Palaiologos, these are the Janissaries I was talking about. The Bowman is pre-1453. The other has a harquebus, which makes him fit the 15th c./17th c. era.

And, please, could you use these Islanders/ Cretans in Crete? I feel a bit odd with these tsoliades in MY island! As to the Jewish thing, I have to reming you that the Jews had previously staged a major uprising in Thessaloniki and were subject to heavy reprisals and persecutions by the ottomans as well. Why dont you put some Arvanites in Attica/ Boeotia to spice up the scenario?

Ok, to be fair, here is a Macedonomachos I did for you. Should I give him the black flat cap (kalpaki) instead?

Good janisaries graphics. Could i use them in the "Roman Empire" scenario?
About the Cretans and Arvanites:
Had not thought of that. I will add a Cretan unit. I also like the idea about the Arvanites. BTW you were suposed to created a scenario about 1821 three weeks ago, where is it? Did you abandon the project?
About the Macedonomachos:
I think he is fine that way, but the kalpaki will be more historically accurate.

Thanks.
About my thing, its much more restricted in scope and geographically, as I told you. I put it on hold, since your scenario came out first. I'm mapcopying it to make all terrain stackable. I'll try it first and then see(never done it before). I 'll post a picture down this thread. Meanwhile I dont mind sharing the units. Mine have the "T" on them. Since I haven't added others unit credits yet...Tell me what you think.

That's as far as I've gone, still, I'll wait for yours to come out first.
As I told you, mine is based primarilly on the civil strife issue.
I have to finish a playable tech-tree and events files for the Turkish and Albanian player too.
Panathinaikos did nicely though, huh?

Don't wait about my own scenario to come out. It may be late. El awrence the update (version 1.1) will come out as soon as i fix the title thing, propably next week.
Panathinaikos' match was fixed IMHO for political reasons. They will have the same result on Athens too (1-1) and it will be judged on penalties. I will download your units as soon as i have acess to my own computer (away from home due to studies).

You are probably right about the fixed result, since we ought to have beaten them easily. After what happened to the fans though, who knows? The people demand retribution. I am green to the core, mind you.
(All this is a bit naive/ idealistic/ romantic since soccer is actually as a corrupt sport as it gets.)
Which brings some other teams scores to mind though. Why didn't the political factor play its part then?

I am an Aris fan.(And a fanatical to that). What teams are you talking about?.
And by the way, this particular match (PAO vs Fener) was crap. Panathinaikos had few chances, if any.
